I wish there were no fence and we could just walk towards the ocean. But it was still a wonderful little nature spot close to CBD. Little less explored and little more loved!

You come here to appreciate the ecological impact and importance a place like this has on the environment. Urban sprawl on one side- Point Cook Marine Sanctuary and Port Philip Bay on the other. All flat ground 1500m walk to the lookout. No toilets or rubbish bins. Take your rubbish with you!

Lovely place to walk and see a wetland and salt marsh with its wildlife. A 1.5 km walk on a wheelchair accessible gravel track from the Car park takes you to the Observation Tower from which there are panoramic views over the salt flats, the wetlands and the surroundings. Over the bay there is an excellent view of central Melbourne with its sky scrapers. Well worth a visit

Lovely view from the observation tower especially on a sunny day. There's a carpark right at the entrance to the path towards the tower but it is quite small. There is also a small beach there that also leads to the carpark. Oddly enough spotted two swans there in the ocean.

The wetlands area a part of the coastal area between Altona Meadows and Point Cook. Originally this was a saltworks. As time has passed it is now a part of the extended parkland. You can view the area from atop the 100 Steps to Federation.

FANTASTIC PLACE TO GO FORAOME QUIET RELAXING TIME OR FOR A NICE COUPLES WALK. If you want to escape the busy everyday hussle and bustle this is a quick hideaway where you can take a moment to relax and unwind before getting back to the daily grind. The best part about it all is that CheethamWetlands is not far from the Main Street schools shopping centres so if you need a quick getaway to relax this is myHot tip

Cheetham Wetlands
The Cheetham Wetlands is a very large space covering 420 hectares made up of man made and natural lagoons, which was created on old salt works land. The wetlands attract a variety of birdlife.Wheelchair accessible. Good parking. Kid friendly sky. Great for riding a bike. Good walking tracks. Views out over the ocean. Picnic tables and shelter here. Toilets available.
