Laurent Bakery Ivanhoe

I have been to the Ivanhoe branch 3 times since they renovated. Worst customer service experience ever I had every time I visited! The last incident was young lady who was taking my order rolled her eyes at me just because last minute I added something on my order!

This place was much better the last time we came, before it expanded. We attended on Easter Sunday around 1pm which understandably may have been a tough day however some things need to be shared.There were 6 or 7 staff on, yet it seemed like no one knew what their role was. The floors were in desperate need of sweeping, particularly under the tables that also needed clearing. At one point no staff were on the floor, yet everyone was behind the counter folding boxes.One of the staff seemed to think that wearing gloves qualified as hand hygiene as they proceeded to touch everything ranging from food, door handles, utensils, boxes and screens with the same gloved hands.I observed the same staff member squeezing multiple pastries with the dirty gloves I assume trying to work out which one was filled with chocolate. The gloves were not changed the whole time we were there.Pulling out the dust buster in the middle of lunch to clean the shelf in the window is not a good look or sound in an already noisy echoing room. This could have waited or a wipe with a clean cloth would have sufficed.Serving soggy croissants that have been sitting waiting with tomato in them and then toasted for 20 seconds is not very nice. But then garnishing with half a plate of decaying mixed salad with a squirt of mayonnaise takes it to a whole next level.I also paid for one chocolate eclair and the staff member defaulted to give me a table number whilst there was no one else ordering at the time. I had to prompt that they could just put it on a plate and I'd be happy to take it with me.I suggest the manager and leadership staff go to a competitors store to see how other successful businesses operate. It is possible. Would be disappointing to see this business run into the ground. Please train up the staff to look around the environment and work together as a team.

Daniyeru's Detailed Review:Customer Service 3/5*Service was polite and professional enough, but lacking a human touch.Food 5/5*Croque Monsieur was made perfectly.*Only issue was the size of the toast overall was tiny, looks like it was made with a kids toast when compared with other Laurents. Maybe a small batch of bread, not sure. But at least the taste was 5/5!**Value 3/5*For the small portion of bread, it's not really worth it unless you want to treat yourself to something nice. I had to eat again elsewhere to get full for lunch.Atmosphere 7/5*The dine in area is very Extravagant and classy. I'd love to dine here and have a coffee and relax. Really nice and comfortable. Very spacious.Overall*The atmosphere here is way above most joints, food and cakes are delicious (albeit the small size croque Monsieur), I would definitely return.

Very stylish cosmopolitan feelBreads are fabulousThe barista just couldn’t get my cappuccino hot enough so did not finish the second remake.Disappointed when I bought a lovely small cake ($10) to gift. The one I received was two thirds the size of the one displayed in the glass cabinet.Next time I will insist from cabinet as I feel they are price gouging but who isn’t these days.

I paid for a fresh orange juice, 10 minutes later she comes and gives me a bottled juice saying I replaced it with this because we don’t have fresh juice, would have been nice to know before I paid for the fresh juice as I didn’t ask for bottled juice. The staff are rude never going back there again, most unprofessional rude place I have ever been to. Teach staff to let customers know at the start before paying for something they don’t have and also let the staff know not to make their own substitutions for things we didn’t order.

Went here last week, for the first time, and we ordered food from the display window and coffee to have there. The coffee was great but took a while to come out, we finished our coffees and noticed that the tables that came in after us had all been served food and we were still waiting. The cafe waa not very busy at the time we ordered and the staff looked to be rather disorganised (bringing out wrong food to our table). We finally got what we ordered, food was okay, but I don’t think we will go back.

Pastries and sandwiches are delicious, but the coffee (latte bowl) leaves a lot to be desired -lacking coffee extraction/flavour. Value is average with the sandwich and coffee at over $22. The refurbishment is nice but becomes noisy during busy times. I may instead revert to Docasa in the future.

I like this place, the food and coffee is pretty good but not really worth the price, I’ve had better for cheaper.It also makes ordering really difficult when there are no menus brought to the tables, just one at the counter. Makes the experience more rushed.
