Barsby Auctions
Some of the items at the recent auction were not as shown in the photographs online - very disappointing. They have duties under Australian Consumer Laws not to mislead consumers (the ACCC has specifically noted these apply to auction houses). I believe their actions are misleading, and had they not made these misleading representations, I would not have bid and bought these items. I will therefore escalate to the Dept of Fair Trading and also the ACCC. Only giving them one star as I am required to, otherwise they would get zero from me.

We have been buying antique items in David Barsby Auctions for over one year and we are very pleased with their services. David and his staff are always patient and very helpful. Their premium are the lowest in Sydney and there is no surcharge for the credit card payment. Highly recommend going to David Barsby Auctions if anyone wants to buy an antique item.

As I live and work in Townsville, North Queensland, all my dealings with David Barsby Auctions, are by email and the internet both for viewing catalogues and bidding at auctions. I have been doing this for a number of years now, and have always found them to be extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. All David's staff understand that being from Townsville, I cannot get in to collect my purchases straight away and allow me to arrange my transport company to pick up as soon as possible.I also understand that just before an auction David and his staff are under immense pressure to get the organization in place, so I do not trouble them with queries, but trust implicitly on David's descriptions and photos to decide what to bid on. So far, after three years of auction bidding, I have not been disappointed on anything.Keep up the good work, hope you all had a Happy New year and will see you on the auction feed later this month.

David Barsby attended my deceased mum’s house to advise about auctioning her furniture and art works. From the word go he was incredibly rude, aggressive, disrespectful and dismissive. After only a few minutes chat where he was disdainful about my mum’s furniture being ‘replicas’ when I had not presented them as antiques, he walked out saying he was not interested. I found his manner and approach to be confusing, offensive, upsetting and very unprofessional. I would recommend not dealing with this person.

BUYER BEWARE - They broke and damaged items but said that's how the items were, yet in pictures they clearly are not! They would not take responsibility or provide a refund saying we should have gotten inspection reports (that is their excuse for everything).Unfortunately, the owner David can't have a civilised conversation, he becomes defensive and runs off like a little child. As others have written, he is extremely RUDE, ARROGANT and UNPROFESSIONAL. How he's managed to stay in business is a mystery. I will certainly be making the relevant complaints to authorities and taking action accordingly.
