Para Wirra Conservation Park
Best in Winter when everything is green and creeks are flowing. Lots of walking tracks to choose from... I've included pictures of the lesser known Wild Dog Track Dam which is a stunner yet has less defined walking track around the lake (not impossible though). You find it by turning onto Scenic Drive to head toward the Wirra Campground area, then its the second right track on the right. Its a short walk to the Dam. Enjoy.

This place is a hidden gem of South Australia and the Northern suburbs. My family have frequented Para Wirra for over 35 or more years and I've seen the park change alot over the years.I'm both pleased and dissapointed at the introduction of camping sites on one hand it's great for people to experience on the other hand it has taken away picnic spots and family areas but I do understand the parks need to stay viable. On a recent trip there to honour my deceased grandfathers memory I was pleased to still see Emu's wandering around the park something we have very fond memories of from when I was younger. Thanks for keeping this park up and running and for continually providing a place for us to relive family memories.

Para Wirra Conservation Park
Great trails to walk and plenty of wildlife to see.Our Favourite - We were really pleasantly surprised to find a nature play area in the conservation park. It was so much fun for the kids and best of all .... there were toilets right next to it. Plenty of shade and spots for picnics too. Just make sure you pack plenty of water because the kids will want to stay longer.

A nice loop walk (45 minutes) having a look at the old mining area of the Barossa Goldfields.Great signage around the bush track informing of the past.Lots to see including old mine shafts, diggings and buildings including tools and equipment used.

We did the Devils nose hike which was pretty easy and about 6km’s there and back, you go to the rocky outcrop with spectacular view then turn back and go the same way. I’d recommend the short detour to the lake, worth a visit and nice for the dog to cool off and there are toilets & picnic areas there. We saw Emus, Roos + joey, plenty of lizards and a snake on the walk. It’s $11 entry (pay online only) but totally worth it for a few hours exploring in the open air. Would highly recommend this park, suitable for all ages & fitness levels, just do a quick research before hand in relation to which walk you want to do.
