Great spot to snorkel. Not much to see in the shallow ponds though. Wish we had our scuba gear on though as the chasm would have been fantastic to explore. (Need cave accreditation of course).

Water was 15 degrees! But I had a wetsuit. Nice area to get changed before walking to the ponds. There is a long drop toilet there if needed. There is a ladder there that you can use to get into the ponds. My husband saw a long nicked turtle! I saw fish. Beautiful colours and grateful for the adventure. Don't forget to book your time and pay before going!

You need a permit to snorkel here. It’s beautiful but only go if you have a permit otherwise you just look at it from the edge. Not much else around.

Great place to visit and to do some scuba diving if you have the certification to do so. Please note you have to pay a permit as well. 100% recommended.

Well worth the short 2min walk to the ponds. We jumped in for a quick swim ultra clear water. Although very chilly worth the quick swim.. must do.

Currently no diving due to revegetation. Many birds enjoying the wonderful area.Toilets available and easy parking. Short walk to pontoon.

A little dissapointed with the water clarity and amount of algae build up, mainly due to reading how clear the ponds where supposed to be. Visibility was under 10 metres. However still a great experience for the kids. And swimming out over the chasm is definitely a highlight.

The ponds are gorgeous and well worth seeing how clear the water is - I’d also recommend the boardwalk further down the road for some truly lovely reeds, ocean and river sites. It’s flat and not too long.

Nice snorkel, but visibility wasn't as good as Ewens Ponds. Impressive chasm where the cave drops away. Cold, full wetsuits a must (Allendale East General Store has nearby gear hire)
