All part of crossing the Simpson. Thanks to the traditional owners for letting us pass on their land. So pristene, so full of ancient stories, so full of happiness. This is outback Australia at it's best. Remote, dangerous, yet so welcoming. Very proud to have visited.

The historic Dalhousie Homestead Ruins, from the former Dalhousie Station, lie within the national park and are listed on the South Australian Heritage

Witjira National Park
Witjara NP features mmany natural springs surrounded by lush greenery and abundant wildlife. The park sits on the western edge of the Simpson Desert in the far north of South Australia amid endless sand dunes and stark gibber plains. The only one and big disappointment once again of course is the backward mentality of Australians who seem to think its AOK to leave their rubbish and poo paper lying around.... sad but true.

Witjira National Park
Witjira National Park is an enchanting destination located in the heart of the Australian Outback, offering visitors a unique and captivating experience. As a nature enthusiast, I was drawn to this park's intriguing landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. Here's my review of Witjira National Park.First and foremost, the park's natural beauty is simply awe-inspiring. From vast expanses of golden sand dunes to ancient rocky ranges, the landscape of Witjira National Park is a testament to the raw power and beauty of the desert. The contrasting colors and textures of the terrain create a mesmerizing visual spectacle that will leave you breathless. Exploring the park, whether by foot or 4x4 vehicle, offers a genuine connection with nature and a chance to witness the remarkable adaptations of the flora and fauna to the harsh desert environment. One of the highlights of Witjira National Park is undoubtedly the presence of the spectacular Dalhousie Springs. These natural thermal pools provide a soothing oasis in the midst of the arid landscape. Taking a dip in the warm, mineral-rich waters is a revitalizing experience that allows you to unwind and reflect on the wonders of nature. The surrounding vegetation and birdlife further enhance the tranquility of the springs, making it a true sanctuary in the desert. Moreover, Witjira National Park is of immense cultural significance to the traditional owners, the Arabana and Dieri Aboriginal people. Their deep connection with the land and their ancestral stories are woven into the fabric of the park. Visitors have the opportunity to gain insight into their rich cultural heritage through interpretive signs and guided tours, which add a layer of depth to the overall experience. It's a valuable chance to appreciate and respect the history and traditions of the First Nations people. On the downside, it's worth noting that Witjira National Park is remote and requires careful planning and preparation. The lack of amenities and facilities within the park can be challenging for some visitors. However, for those seeking a true wilderness adventure and an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this isolation can be seen as part of the park's charm. In conclusion, Witjira National Park offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of Australia's desert landscape. With its breathtaking scenery, rejuvenating thermal springs, and cultural significance, the park is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a deeper connection with the land. While the remoteness may pose logistical challenges, the rewards are well worth the effort. I highly recommend adding Witjira National Park to your travel itinerary for an unforgettable Outback experience.Note: As with any travel plans, it's essential to check the latest information, permits, and safety guidelines before visiting any national park.

A beautiful place to see, there are special tracks that only 4wd's can enter so I would recommend to have one if possible to get the best out of it. Pack a picnic and spend the day out there.
