A short evening stretch of the legs on my way home from UQ turned into a chance discovery of Henry Thomas' Bougainvillea Gardens and the history of 'Somerset' (unfortunately the timber cottage was removed in the 1960s but there are several reproduced photographs from newspaper articles reproduced in the park's signage).Overlooking Indooroopilly Golf Club, this park is doing its bit preserving the palms, bunya pine, boab trees and bougainvilleas that gave Henry the title 'The Bougainvillea King'.
