Chillagoe - Mungana Caves National Park
Loved loved loved this. My husband and took a day trip out here while holidaying in Cairns. We went on all 3 cave tours. It’s an experience for everyone. I’ve had 9 knee operations and I was able to easily explore all the caves. We didn’t explore the caves where you don’t need a tour guide due to my knees so I can’t comment on them. Ranger tour guide Josh was excellent and very knowledgeable.Highly recommend this amazing experience

A must do while here is the cave's.Bob was a great tour guide, we really enjoyed it. Everyone gets a torch to help find there way. Very bright with 20 all going. Toilet at the waiting area very clean. Book at the information centre.

Day trip from Cairns but so different. You will leave lash rainforest to be transported to the dry red outback. No need to buy tickets in advance as you can purchase then in the information centre. We did the Queen Victoria Arch cave and what experience it was. You will enter holding torches as there is no light in the cave. Beautiful adventure for children. There is a balancing rock near by and Aboriginal painting as well to explore.

This is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. It is nearly 3 hours drive from Cairns and I advice to go early in the morning. Otherwise it gets hard with warm climate which makes it difficult to hike. Ranger guided tours are the best over self guided one. You can book it on phone and pay at the site. The ticket site is the chillagoe's auspost. They offer 9am 11am and 1.30p.m tours...On holidays they add extra tours as well. During ranger guided ones, you don't need torches because they will provide you.

Expect unsealed roads with corrugations to get there. Tours were all booked out and a little out of our price range so we did the self-guides cave tours. Not for those claustrophobic or faint hearted. Some difficult climbing involved.Balancing rock was cool but our favourite was the Mungana Archways.

Very nice cave walks. Paid tours are a little pricey but are very good. Self guided caves are well worth a look as well. Not for anyone who has a claustrophobia. You will need head lamps or torches to explore the cave. Amazing experience well worth a visit

If you're not to fit it is a hard track. But you can have rests on the way. The scenery at the top is worth it. Kids will love it. Take care though. The cave photos are from the information board. Take water, camera and torches for caves. Wear good climbing shoes.
