Platypus, platypus, everywhere! Fantastic National park. Short walk or long hike, there is something for every naturalist. Take plenty of water as potable water can only be purchased at the visitor center. Trails are very well marked. Plan at least half a day to fully appreciate the park. Proper footwear recommended.

Superb rainforest. Wonderful walking trails. River with platypus. Excellent campgrounds. We absolutely loved it. Can get cold at night . A must see.

Great for wildlife especially birds including the endemic Eungella Honeyeater. Also the best place in the world to see platypus in the wild.

Arrived at 8:30am to see platypus. We saw plots of turtles, butterflies & fish. Eventually we saw a platypus at around 11:15 at the bridge viewing platform. Glad we waited.

Was recommended to me as a must visit attraction whilst in Mackay due to the amazing scenery and sights of platypus. It was such an amazing drive to Eungella especially up the mountain. Drive 90 mins and arrived at 6.40am hoping to see platypus swimming around since they are nocturnal animals and active either during dawn or dusk. Saw one platypus far away swimming under the water so wasn’t very clear. Was a bit disappointed.A friend later advised that going to Broken River at Eungella is a much better place to see platypus and walking trail.

Such a pristine and biodiverse environment. I love walking the walking tracks which are lsigned and interesting. There's always a different view. Yesterday the bats were socialising in the low cloud.

June 2023. Finch Hatton Gorge was a lovely place to visit. 2 waterfalls to see. One is an easy walk. The other involves a rock scramble named Callistemon Crossing and many steps. The rock scramble was a challenge, I couldn't cross without traversing through the cold water on slippery surfaces. Lesser of 2 evils - less treacherous for me than trying to step from 1 rock to another across large gaps, onto uneven/slippery surfaces. Many could and did, so it's up to the individual. If you don't mind steps, it's pretty plain sailing, once past the rock crossing. You can swim in both pools if you desire. Some did but said it was very cold. Didn't stay in for long.

A gem of a scene from up there! Definitely a place to visit when you are in Mackay! Make sure to go check out the Eungella Dam, but be aware you will need a 4W drive.
