A tired, overcrowded and dirty airport with cheap furniture from the 1980s. Nowhere to charge a phone. Absolutely no cover from car park to terminal so you will get drenched. Toilets were filthy. No Virgin lounge and long queues thru security. Long overdue to be demolished and rebuilt.

The website should have the opening hours of the airport, as it closes at night and opens just one hour before flights start. Small airport, even efficient, but needs to be more transparent in the information it provides to users.

Small, but easy to find you way around. Stress free. Had out side smoking area and a bar. In side it has two food stores and a boost juice. As well as another bar. And it has Mackay's biggest fan. Next time I fly into Mackay I'll be using this air port.

Recently modernised ... security is easy to navigate. Reasonable food hall and magazine outlet ... Toilet facilities could do with a refresh. Other wise okay.

Being a smaller airport, everything is only a short walk away.Very well signed. Only a few gates, so you cant get lost. Some food vendors are on site. Long and short parking available. Short parking is free within 15minutes of entering the gate. Front door drop off also available. There is a hotel, bar and restaurant on site if needed.

Certainly a nice regional airport. Easy check in and bag drop and an efficient security screening process. Once 'air side', there's the Botanist cafe with good food and drink selections, a Red Rooster and the usual place to pick up your magazines, books, snacks and tech.

Breakfast was of a poor standard. Cleanliness of rooms was average at best. Overall not very good for airport accommodation.

Check in counters Only open hour and a half before flight check in which is odd and annoying and causes crowded lines of people. Then is slow going at check in and through security. And can someone please feed the security staff, they always look hangry. I know their job is important but they could be a bit more welcoming. Cafe food isn't anything to brag about, mediocre at best. They do make a nice coffee though. As usual, everything is way overpriced. The Sargent major at the pick up drop off zone could do with some traffic control training. Nearly got himself run over and almost caused an accident trying to direct traffic. And he doesn't have to be so rude and demanding. The whole place really needs updating. Could be so much better.
