Small beach suitable only for voice controlled dogs. Lots of pedestrian and bicycle traffic on adjacent paths.Sheltered. Apparently good water quality. Toilets nearby.Best at low tide.The coffee shop in the big Life Saving building, a short on-lead walk west, sells doggie icecream in dixie cups. A treat not to be missed.

Dogs are allowed off-leash on the beach between the rock groyne opposite Cumberland Road (2nd groyne from Sandridge Beach) and the rock groyne opposite Barak Road (3rd groyne from Sandridge Beach) at all times of the year. This is a distance of about 220m.For the remainder of the beach the regulations are:1 April - 31 October: Dogs permitted at all times on the beach1 November - 31 March: Dogs prohibited at all times on the beachCopied and pasted from Melbourne Playgrounds website.

Dog beach is nice - can get very busy in the Spring/Summer (and quite over-crowded), making it difficult for dogs to have a good run.Views of the port aren't particularly attractive and not one of Melbourne's best beaches, but worth a visit nonetheless.
