Delicious Indian food and nice service.Easy set-up, just a bit chilly inside for a winter dinner. Reasonable prize for the quality of the dishes. We had 2 mains, highway chicken and Paneer butter masala, saffron rice and 2 garlic nans. Everything was tasty and full of flavour.

We absolutely love this restaurant both for dining in and takeaway. The specialty fish curry is divine, with perfectly cook flaky fish and subtle flavour of cardamom in a creamy sauce. There is real whole spices in every curry, just bursting with flavour and aroma. The service is relaxed and helpful and the restaurant has a great ambience. Highly recommend!

5-star rating review for The Poet restaurant:The curries at The Poet are absolutely delicious! The portions are decently sized and each curry has its own unique flavor, which is quite rare. The dhal was tempered beautifully and the meat was very moist and generous. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some amazing Indian cuisine. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed! Thanks for the poppadoms ;)

We went here for dinner and safe to tell, this is THE BEST Indian restaurant we’ve visited in Australia. Very authentic Indian food ( I’m Indian so when I say Authentic I mean actual authentic food). We were full to our tummies yet left wanting more. The staff are kind and the ambience is good as well. We would surely love to come back here again soon.

We got a Takeaway from this place.Very few places make dishes with fresh prawns. This was one place that claimed it did. But it lacked proper seasoning.Naan was good. But didn't like the chicken curry that much. It was smelling off a bit.Staff were really polite.

What a gem!To be honest, I'm not usually a fan of Indian food as I tend to find it quite heavy. I decided to stop by as this place doesn't look like a traditional Indian restaurant and decided to give it a go.And I was impressed! I ordered a few random things from the menu ... and everything was absolutely fresh, light and delicious!I had these amazing looking vegetarian 'Dahi Puri' balls, bursting with minty creamy cardamomy flavours and a tandoor mixed grill - in particular the chicken was so tender and full of flavour! The prices are very fair (I got away with just over $30 for my order) and the staff were lovely and attentive. It's in a location a bit off the usual track on Chandler St in the Altitude building so I sincerely hope the word will get around and this place is here to stay.

Edit: Quality has definitely dropped since its opening. Food is bang average. Chilli paneer wasn't spicy at all, naans were average at best. Don't know if I'll be back here again. You can get better food elsewhere.

Best Indian I've had in the ACT! We were a mixed table of experienced sub-continent diners and only-ever-had-butter-chicken diners, and there was truly something for everyone. Super affordable, generous serves, specialty dishes I haven't seen elsewhere in Canberra, and tasty like I couldn't believe. Also? Wonderful service. Can't believe they've only just opened. Will definitely be back regularly, and take the chef's suggestions.
