Positive Response Dog Training

Training my girl Pippa as a therapy dog with Shelley has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The name says it all – “positive” not just for the training approach but also for the incredibly positive and patient way the trainers treated me as a novice dog handler. Also positive for the wonderful impact that the trainers are having on people from all walks of life who benefit enormously from an assistance dog or a therapy dog. Shelley really “got” how valuable the doggy-human relationship is. I was lucky enough to meet some of her other Positive Response clients and their dogs and was blown away by the positive difference that these dogs made to their owners lives. During training my dog’s well being and happiness was always the top priority. The “response” from people who have met my dog in the community has been incredibly positive too. Pippa has fun brightening people's days and she inspires many chats - surely this is a positive for people’s mental health and for the community. I'm looking forward to more opportunities for Pippa to bring a little joy to people who need it.

Purchased a harmony harness and lead 8 years ago and only just wore out so purchased a new one. Won't buy any other harness or lead for my staffy. Great service and great business.

Lucy and I have now completed Puppy Training and All Ages 2 classes with Positive Response. Lucy has come such a long way with her training and overall behaviour. We have also had several private lessons to target some challenging behaviours. Jill, Rikki and the other trainers have given us great advice and guidance and provided us with tips specific to Lucy. As an employee of Brisbane Catholic Education, Positive Response Dog Training came as a recommendation to me. I have a 3yr old Labrador, Winnie. I was interested in having Winnie trained to become a therapy dog for the school I work at. I contacted Positive Response and they were so helpful in answering my questions and setting up a therapy dog suitability assessment for me. I had an amazing trainer, Jill, who worked on rewards-based training for Winnie. This style of training fit in well with our school behaviour support model - PB4L (Positive Behaviour 4 Learning), so we were keen to jump on board. Jill was happy to visit my home and work on the school grounds to ensure Winnie was comfortable and confident to perform the tasks required of her. Winnie is now a certified therapy dog and has taken her primary school, Our Lady of Dolours, Mitchelton, by storm. She brings so much joy to the staff and students and we feel extremely blessed that Positive Response made this possible for us. I highly recommend Positive Response Dog Training.

Our golden retriever attended puppy school part 1, recently graduated part 2 and will commence part 3. The trainer, Rikki, was very knowledgeable on dog training and behaviour, hands-on during classes, always friendly, and worked at an appropriate pace for each puppy and owner.We also have one-on-one private training in our home with trainer Jill. She works brilliantly with our autistic daughter and understands how to meet her individual needs with training.We highly recommend Positive Response.

We’ve now completed all stages of group training classes and have had several in home consultations with Dee for our Sheepadoodle puppy and we have learned so much from her! Dee is professional, patient, knowledgeable and her passion for dog behaviour and training really shows.We’ve recently been on holidays and were extremely anxious about leaving our pup Cosmo, but he loved having Rikki for sleepovers while we were away. We were thrilled to receive daily messages, photos and videos of Cosmo and it was such a relief to know he was receiving such wonderful care. It was fabulous to go away knowing he was safe and comfortable in his own home environment.We really can’t recommend Positive Response highly enough. We recently used Positive Response Dog Training to take our team through a dog first aid course. Our instructor Jayda was excellent. She was extremely knowledgable, friendly and thorough, ensuring everyone in the room understood the different concepts and answered all of our questions with ease and professionalism. She not only spoke on topics in a general sense, but also went into more detail about how to deal with situations that we would be most likely to encounter in the place we work which was super helpful and relevant!The ‘demonstration assistant’ pup was also super cute and very friendly which made the whole thing even more enjoyable! Will definitely be going back to these guys when we need a course refresh next year!

We attended the puppy training & really enjoyed the experience. It provided opportunities for teaching my puppy to sit, roll, settle, and generally have more control of her actions. It was insightful for me as I have young children, so some good advice was provided about what to do- I was also permitted to bring my older child- 6 years. I met one of our puppies siblings and they had opportunity to socialise. Our trainer, Hayley, went above and beyond her duties to help the puppies have extra time to connect. Hayley was also very professional & knowledgeable about dog training & had an obvious passion for all dogs. It was a really enjoyable experience & look forward to attending the next training sessions they offer….

We would recommend Positive Response Dog Training to anyone with a new puppy or anyone who has a dog with problems. It was such a good experience for us and our puppy. We haven't had a puppy for many years so it was good to have a refresher course. Rikki our trainer was wonderful. She was patient and explained everything very well. You can tell that Rikki loves her work and we felt very at ease with her. Having trained dogs in other ways I can honestly say Positive Response Training is the best way to go.
