The Salty Dog Hotel
Myself and a friend dined at the Salty Dog last night and did not particularly enjoy the experience. Food was hugely expensive and didn’t even make average. Seafood Fettuccine was basically spiced tomato sauce, 3 small pieces of cut up prawn(wouldn’t have been a whole prawn), one mussel, one tiny piece of calamari and 2 scallops. My friend had salt and pepper calamari and was not able to finish it because it was tough. Both meals were luke warm on arrival. I have no objection to paying if the food is up to the standard of the high prices being charged. The young female waitress was lovely and polite(which is why 3 stars for service)however the male staff member was quite unpleasant and couldn’t manage a smile. He kept asking if we wanted anything else when we were sitting having a conversation and continued to rush us until we were feeling uncomfortable and decided to leave. This was at 9pm and the the website states closing time is 10pm.Won’t be back.

Great location and venue! The selection of drinks is great with an excellent beer garden! Very nice atmosphere and staff where nice! The food was also very nice! Have eaten in the past in the restaurant and that was delicious but only just ate in the beer garden off the pub menu and had the parmi! It was good! Maybe slightly overpriced but at least it was very big and quite yummy! Can’t complain! Can definitely recommend!

Been to this place a few times and it hasn’t let us down. Have tried ribs, traditional fish and chips and a burger in the last few outings and they’ve all been great. The menu is decent, and the prices reasonable. They also have a nice cocktail menu which isn’t ridiculously priced like a lot of other places seem to like doing. I recommend the Retro Fruit Tingle! And the location overlooking the beach from the front dining area is superb.

Great place for dinner opposite the beach.Place was very busy, but they found us a table, which was very kind of them. Food was excellent, staff very attentive, and ambience was good. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

Honestly quite disappointing. The Gnocchi was an oily mess, served with vegetables that bordered of bitter and mushy. My wife had the rump steak, she described it as both flavourless and overly salty. The Mushroom gravy tasted akin to a few mushrooms dropped into a bowl of wine.We had the Calamari as an entre, thankfully that wasnt bad, although it was served with the mains, so it became my main when I struggled to stomach the gnocchi. My son had the chicken nuggets and chips. Good quality nuggets with proper breast meat and a nice seasoning.Carpark behind the restaurant was littered with enormous potholes.Outdoor restaurant environment was nice, well set up as a beer garden.Overall, a rather disappointing lunch paired with a hefty price tag (almost $130) for this very average meal. Would not recommend.

Great location for some outdoor food and beer session. Food is mixed, brisket was great if a little over sauced (some slaw side would be nice) but Thai" vego noodle was poor and pretty woeful for $28. Probably best stick to meats and pub classics I'd say. Good wine list and reasonable priced and plenty of beers on tap as expected. Good variety to zero alcohol beers too (had a good mandarin sour)"
