Wooden Horse Restaurant
To be honest, may be a 4 star is slightly unfair as a result of my over expectations on this restaurant.I love the friendly staffs and super homey setting, is warm and relaxing as soon as you stepping into the restaurant.The price is slightly touch the fine dinning side but the food were trying to be fine dinning and didn’t quite make it. The following is strictly based on my personal opinion:Prawn toast - too oily, and as a appetiser this can easily kill the rest of the meal.Short ribs - it was beautifully done, soft. But the sauce and the crunchy elements of the dish was overly done. It over takes the main element of the dish which was the short ribs.King fish - that was the best dish of the day. Very well balance in terms of taste. Crunchy skin, the fish was slight over done but for king fish this isn’t a huge problem. The broth was delicious.Dessert was normal.

Amazing food and outstanding service! Every dish was incredibly good but the smoked mushroom parfait and Violet Crumble dessert were the stars of the show! Cosy, romantic, perfect for date night. Can’t wait to come again!

I was waiting until my second visit to leave this review and after last night I can say this is easily my favourite place to eat in Brisbane.What can I say, from the atmosphere to the way you can tell the chefs take so much pride in the food they create… it’s just amazing. High end quality with a homey feel. Since going vegan it’s hard to go to nice restaurants and having to choose between mushroom risotto and fries but with Wooden Horse, you never feel left out. Last night I ordered the mushroom steak and fries, empanadas and corn bread (I’ve been day dreaming about the corn bread since my last visit). Every single aspect of the plates that were brought out were beautifully presented and flavours were carefully thought out. Well done to the chef, you should be so proud of what you do. Both visits the service by the staff was impeccable, you can tell they love where they work and what they do.Thank you for the great experience! I can’t wait to make my way through the whole menu and seeing what other magical creations you come up with!

Very nice restaurant with elegant and vintage interior design. The ambiance is captivating and the attention to detail in the plate presentation is just awesome. Wooden Horse Restaurant
My sister told me about the mushroom steak that they had on their plant menu and I really wanted to try it. I finally got to go and it was delicious. The mushroom steak had a woody umami flavour mixed with a smokey flavour. The pan con tomate was a bit sour for my liking. If they toned down the sourness on the sauce that they used it would have hit the spot. We also had their non alcoholic drinks and they really complemented our meals. The desserts were also delicious. We got both the peanut butter pudding and the autumn crumble. I was very impressed with the peanut butter pudding as I'm not a big fan of peanuts. But they were delectable. I would love to come back here again to try their other dishes on their plant based menu.
