Del Mar Carnegie
I really wanted to give them 5 stars because of the lovely customer service but I couldn’t. I was not too impressed with the food. It was okay but not very hot, the bread was soggy and under cooked and there was a lot of oil on the dish. My coffee, while tasty, was super hot which is a little frustrating.I’d like to say I’d give them another go but with so many cafes to explore in the area, I’m not sure I will.

A spacious Mediterranean-themed cafe & restaurant perfect for families with its courtyard playground. As such, the menu was wide and varied. Both brunch and lunch/dinner menus were available. I got the Del Mar breakfast which consisted of the usual suspects, each of which was very bland. The pastas were very average. Pancakes lacked creativity and were not fluffly. Tiramisu off the display tasted purely of shortening. Burgers were probably the better ones. Toilet was disgustingly dirty. Food service was quick though.

Great coffee but service can sometimes be slow. The cakes are heavenly and the wedges great for a quick meal. On a nice day it's great to be able to sit out at the front pavement seating area or in the amazing outdoor, back courtyard area with kids playground. Sitting outside in the front area is great if you are out walking your pooch. We like sitting at the back inside opposite the video screen showing you videos of the most pleasant ocean views. It can be difficult to park in the area so another option is the tram as this cafe is right opposite Koornang Road Stop 68 on Carnegie Tram Route 67.

Friendly service, great food!! Had the Chicken Parma and gotta say it was the best I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend Del Mar !!

Visited this place over the weekend with my family, loved the fact that they had a play area! Very warm and family friendly environment, food was very good too. Will be back!

We often called in here for morning coffee or lunch but their large coffee mugs have shrunk (shrinkflation) and their muffins are just very light commercial ones with no substance. I think they need to lift their game.

The rear courtyard was lovely and I imagine very handy for parents with toddlers due to the playground there. The food was very good and standard pricing, however the big drawback was the serving staff who were pretty non-chalant. On this occasion the rear dining area was heavily inundated with wasps who made the experience quite unnerving. I would not return to Del Mar Carnegie based on the above.
