They're always 100 per cent professional and reliable, their services are extremely thorough and they're very good at preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Shane, Felicity, Rowan and the whole team are genuinely nice people and they always make time to give you advice if you need it.

Douglas Marine I found to be an excellent engineering workshop. Shane replaced my tired Volvo with a new Yanmar 27 hp did the conversion on time and to budget. The work area was protected well so the yacht remained clean. The fridge compressor needed relocating and Shane worked through that well too. He is a good communicator and patient. There was slight damage to the stern that he thought he may have done and volunteered to fix it at no cost to me. The damage was pre-existing though. I was impressed with his professionalism on this point too.

I recommend Douglas Marine for their expertise and competitive pricing. It was well worth the sail to Newport from Sydney Harbour when I needed a new motor. In Sydney, mechanics advised that the replacement motor was larger, making the installation costly: the engine cover and steps leading into the saloon had to be rebuilt to accommodate the longer motor. Shane Douglas solved this problem quickly, over the phone, with minimal additional cost. He simply shortened the prop shaft to accommodate the extra length. With Douglas Marine, the job doesn't need to be made any bigger. Shane and his team installed the motor as promised, keeping to the price and time frame quoted. This was seven years ago. The team at Douglas Marine have serviced the motor regularly and provided detailed, patient explanations of each step required to maintain the motor in top condition. Well worth the short sail north to Pittwater.
