This wasn’t my first choice for building and pest inspection but because they had already completed one for the property that was going on auction in a few days- had limited time to go with the company I usually go with. I got the copy for $300 - which I found out was standard price to get a copy of a report that was already done. However when I called / texted for more information, I never received a phone call back or text. Other companies I have gone with respond back that day or let me know. We didn’t win at the auction so that was a relief, however needing more information is imperative and this company didn’t respond back. My advice : go with another company that will be responsive and prompt!

Beware of Childs Property Inspections - I used them to do a pre-purchase inspection of my property and the report skipped an entire room that backed onto the bathroom shower. Once I moved in I realised that the shower had been leaking for a long time and the walls and wardrobe were full of black mould and a range of insects! I'm left with the bill to re-tile the entire bathroom and replace entire sections of wall. I've made many attempts to contact Child's and no one returns any calls or emails, even from my conveyancer. DO NOT TRUST.

What a professional company and a great team both in their office and doing the inspections. They did a Building Report and a Thermal Pest Inspection. Very happy with everything from beginning to end. Easy to book iand done really quickly. The report was really easy to understand too which was great. Have now just signed the contract for my house and am confident I have made the right decision. The inspector was friendly & very thorough! Even my agent commented on how thorough they were. Thanks to the whole team.

I'm new to buying a home and went on line and placed an order with Childs Property Inspections on Monday. I received an email on the same afternoon to advise that the inspection was booked in and property at Marrickville was being inspected the next day. The report arrived the day after and was very comprehensive and informative. I even called the inspector to ask a few questions and he was very, very helpful. The service was very professional. Worth the money I paid and will definitely use this company again!

Buying property is an awfully stressful experience across a number of months and involving a million phone calls to different people and companies. My call to Childs Property Inspections was the easiest of all of these. Friendly, easy, professional. Will happily book the next one with them also. Thanks Guys.

Very poor service, not respond phone call or emails unless you're money transfer for them. You won't get the report after the inspection and once you've got the report, if you want to call them for more explanation or clarify any doubts, they won't take phone calls. Very poor service. No response once they receive your money.

Paid $495 for a Pest and Building report which has not been supplied.Only a pathetic response from the Secretary whom passed it onto Gavin Childs the owner whom has not responded OR provided the Building report.Supposed to be supplied at the end of the next business day. It has been 22 days. He appears to be a fraud!! Be warned

Extremely unprofessional. Pre-purchase pest and building inspection failed to identify extensive water damage to timber beams holding up second storey of home. Appointment of our own inspector who was gobsmacked that this damage was not identified during inspection. Numerous phone calls and emails to Gavin Childs who continually ignored all our attempts at contacting him. No point ringing the office either as they just provide you with Gavin's mobile which he does not answer. By some small miracle I think I caught Gavin off guard one day and he answered his phone. He made excuse after excuse and when I proved his excuses incorrect he asked for a quote to repair the damage. Time waster. Quote sent and to date no offer from Childs Property Services to cover the cost of repairs which they failed to identify. Now some 12 months later, still no response from this company. Obviously Gavin has no conscience and not sure how he can lay straight in bed at night. Repair costs to the value of $24k and had we known about damage we would have either not bought the house or reduced the offer to cover these costs. DO NOT recommend this company.

I have just received my reports from Childs Property Inspections. Thank goodness they were clear and easy to understand because I don't know all that much about building and pest things. A really clear report and the inspector who I spoke with after the inspection definitely knew what he was talking about and I think he said he'd been doing these inspections for about 12 years. Good on you Childs Property. Money well spent when making such a big investment when buying a new house.

Where in the latter case they bent over backwards to make sure I understood the risks associated with my purchase Childs were too busy protecting their scope and saying no".
