Our experience started off well when we were prospects. After signing the tender our project's progression has suffered continual delays and price increases. Thanks to their slackness the tender has expired and now they are trying to charge us $12,000 extra for their own delays and we still don't have a construction start date.I would strongly advise to try another company. We will be for our next build. Clarendon homes has just finished building the house opposite ours and their block was purchased in the same week we bought ours. How is it possible that another company can complete a build of the same size before we even break ground?We are really saddened and angered by our experience and we will not be going back for more.

Professional staff but clueless

What a great way to start choosing all the things that will make our new home. We arrived at 3pm for our first appointment and drove into the car park and there was my name on a parking spot. Felt pretty special.Walked in to be greeted by Alice who asked us to sign in and Ben would be looking after us today.We met Ben what a great guy who knew just how to put us at ease.We sat down and he went through the process explaining how everything works.We will be paying $9990 for $47, 500 worth of luxury upgrades. Ben explained each page of the book.He also went through, Roof, kitchen, bathroom , air conditioner etcHe then proceeded to take us on a tour to show us everything he had just explained. Then we were able just to look around ourselves. Take pictures of what we liked and also take down names of them as well.When we had finished, we asked a few questions which he was very happy to answer.He then walked us out to the door. Thanks Ben it was a pleasure dealing with you.It was a great first experience at the ColourStudio.

Untrustworthy. Don't be fooled by their hype. You will overpay then be overcharged. Our tender started at 280k before ballooning to over 380k. This didn't include the internal specs or upgrades. Needless to say I didn't sign a contract with them.

Saw a review that said professional staff but clueless". What does that even mean? If they are clueless they are not professional and if they are professional they are not clueless. Total oxymoron!"

McDonald Jones Homes may be good but the Oakflats Office is embroiled with unethical practices and uses underhanded tactics to try and make you pay more than is required and fair. For example, we got a conditional DA approval and one of the conditions it to put in a skylight. Their quote (MJH) gave us was between $4,000 and $5,000 which is 60% more than what we found out in the marketplace. They refuse to itemise the quote and refused to get another quote from other competitors. They said they only work with VELUX We are now having to ring organisations and their head office which is time consuming to get these cowboys to follow basic business Norms. I can see now we will have to fight all the way. Stay clear of this office. I can write a list of things but read the contract carefully! They tried to get us to pay a $65,000 GST bill for supplies. Hmm?? a mistake?? Luckily we knew better and gave it to them.... as they are the builders buying the supplies. Be prepared to have stamina to challenge everything. If they just played by the rules they would find out they would probably be more profitable and efficient.
