It takes the guess-work out of how big your crash was. It tells you the exact g-force that you experienced. So you rest up when you've had a big crash and not continue your race or you sit out the rest of your trail ride with mates. Your mates can read the sensor to know how big you crashed. It also helps you to know if your helmet needs to be replaced from your crash.
