It felt like something of an honour to visit Hoosegg and spend time with Philip drinking his beautiful wines and listening to him explain his philosophy. It was sad to hear about how the fires affected the previous growing season but lovely to learn of the coming together of the various wineries to help each other in a difficult time. This was my favourite of our winery visits that weekend due to the intimate nature of it and the beautiful views out over the landscaping that Philip has achieved there.

Well worth the drive to Orange to not only taste incredible wines but to speak with the master wine maker himself, Philip Shaw. Philip was amazing, answered all my questions, spoke with enthusiasm and shared personal experiences. All the wines we tried were well balanced, complex and very drinkable as well as would show well with decades of ageing. We felt welcomed and will absolutely be back. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Purely by being in the right place at the right time Greg recommend that we head over to do a tasting with Phillip at his house. So we booked in for the 3pm slot.Driving in through the rows of vines up the long driveway, it just gave a scene that you could have been in a different part of the would rows and rows rolling down the valley. I knew we had made a great decision (thanks Greg).Had a great time chatting to him, asking questions and general getting to know his story. The wine……. Well, I think I could have stayed all day drinking his wine and chatting to him and still not scratched the surface of his knowledge. Everything we tried we liked, the smells textures and the finish it was all divine! Highly recommend getting booking in for this. Make sure your wallet is healthy as you my get over excited like we did.

The opportunity to spend an hour with Philip, drinking his magnificent wines in a beautiful location, is very special one. And the wines are very, very good indeed.

Wow. We booked a tasting at Hooseg and my wife and I had Philip Shaw himself for an hour and a half by ourselves. His stories about the wine industry, his career and his family (and of course Hooseg wines) was really interesting and gave us a great understanding of the regional wine landscape. The wine quality, from my experience is absolutely fantastic. Philip’s Hooseg wines are elegant, multidimensional and it’s clear he has produced something that is not for the masses, but for the people that appreciate. Wines of note for me were: Seven Heaven Chardonnay, the merlot and Cabernet Franc. I will return. Thanks Philip.

We had a fantastic experience with Greg at Hoosegg. He explained everything in a clear, non pretentious way. We didn't feel rushed at all and found the wines delicious. Setting was outstanding too. Well worth it.

The BEST of the best in Orange. After going to numerous cellar doors, HOOSEGG outperforms them all. Served by the owner Philip Shaw himself, he takes the time to go through his wine making process delivering his crisp Chardonnay to his full bodied Cab Sav and my personal favourite, the Cabernet Franc. The views from the tasting room encompass the rolling hills of Orange which are depicted in the beautiful art in the cellar door. Worth the tasting fee, and the 1.5h experience. Thanks Philip!
