My 8yr old son has been getting drum lessons from Russell for 18 months now. Russell is a great drum teacher, he is very knowledgeable but also very patient which is important with young kids. I would and have recommended Russell to anyone wanting drum lessons, young or old

I'm a guitar teacher and have played with Russell on heaps of occasions, he's a great drummer. I've also referred a number of my younger student's brothers/sisters to him for lessons and their parents report that they are really, really happy with Russell's approach and their kid's progress. I'm one of these old guys who had never learnt to play an instrument, but always wanted to play drums. I did some lessons with Russell to get me started, just so I could play along with some music. The more I went to Russell, the more I realised how much there was to learn. So I kept going for 2 years.Russell taught me at my pace and I enjoyed every moment of it. Including the practice I had to do so I could progress.I now play along to all sorts music and even Jam with some family and friends.Russel is a great teacher and I would highly recommend him for anybody. It's never too late to start.

Russell is a fantastic drumming teacher. I started learning the drums just over a year ago and it has been a lot of fun so far.Russell is very patient with his students and full of encouragement and motivation. The lessons are a very good balance of learning basic theory and playing along to songs trying out different kinds of styles & rhythms. His experience and level of knowledge is immense and he is very keen to teach everything he knows about drumming and music in general. He always finds ways of getting you to learn things that you might find difficult to start with and has solutions and specific exercises that help you improve. I also find it helpful that he plays other instruments too and knows how they work together in a song. Russell is a very genuine and professional person and I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to give drumming a go.
