Loved our break here. Hosts were super helpful and friendly. Superbly located with an easy walk to pub and cafes. Right opposite the Nut at Stanley. Easy walk to penguins.

Delicious food, very friendly and helpful staff. They were very busy but we were happy to wait for a table. Good for families. A little hot in there, despite open windows. But we would definitely eat there again. We enjoyed the beef pie, the mushroom bruschetta, the scones, the mudcake and the scones.

My favourite cafe in Aus. Best scones (and chocolate brownie!) you'll ever have are here. Owners are lovely, the view and seating area are nice and we enjoyed looking in the shop after breakfast. Came here in April 2019 and it's great to see the same wonderful consistency again in October 2020. Hope this place never changes!

What a great find - period workman cottages, beautiful period furnishings, very comfortable and clean and well equipped for self catering. Great quiet location and easy walk to Nut. Great Cafe adjacent serving fresh tasty meals - very good seafood crowded and home cooked cakes and scones - good coffee.

This place is a gem and operated by the most welcoming and accommodating people. A must do for anyone in travels to Stanley. Chris and Gretta are very professional in everything they do. Please support them, you will not be disappointed. Star rating above and beyond.

Exceptional service, food, presentation and friendliness. We visited the quaint town of Stanley during a brief cruise stop (in Burnie). The weather had closed in with grey clouds and rain and we came upon The Touchwood Gallery/Cafe as we were looking something to eat. We were all very impressed with the welcoming that we received when walked into the Cafe, which sits at the rear of the building behind the Gallery. The Scones, Jam and Cream on offer were some of the best and most generous I have sampled in a very long time. Although we didn't indulge in the cakes we felt that they looked very fresh and generous in size. The current owners deserve credit for providing a wonderful selection of great food, and great presentation. In reality anyone can throw Scones, cream and jam on a plate, but the care and attention to presentation really created a visual appeal that was mouth watering, and the taste was equally as good. The Gallery itself had a great range of creative crafts and is well worth a look. My advice would be that if you ever visit Stanley don't miss the opportunity to drop in to have a bite to eat, or visit the gallery of this wonderful business.

We loved our stay in the little cottages and can’t wait to come back. Chris, the owner makes the best coffee and the cakes were divine. Very well priced. Gorgeous place, it’s a must visit when in Stanley.

Beautiful people, beautiful cottage in beautiful place. This place should be rated full score. Spotless clean well maintained Colonial style accommodation in the centre of Stanley. Try their scones, obvious one of the bests in the state.

We visited this cafe yesterday morning and experienced the most unfriendly welcome. The restaurant was half empty, so they weren’t exactly busy. In fact, no-one greeted us when we came inside. A grumpy waitress just kept dodging us as we tried to get out of her way. A man who was known to the staff came in after us and was greeted warmly and attended to. He left the screen door open and the cantankerous male barista asked us to shut it, which we did. A woman at the back must have noticed this scene unfolding and called out that someone would look after us soon. Eventually the grumpy waitress asked us what we wanted and we told her a table for two. She looked painfully at us and said they had to make up a table for 12 for a group that obviously hadn’t arrived yet, suggesting they could not accommodate us. There were plenty of seats available, enough for us and twelve more, but clearly they were not prepared to make room for us. We immediately left and enjoyed our coffees at the Speckled Hen where we were warmly greeted with ‘Good morning!’ … what a difference!
