My partner has been taken to ER at 4am for unsuitable pain. She has been neglected and sent home without an ultrasound because we don't really do that at that time". She had to go back a day later and $200 on top of the ambulance fee."

Shocking at emergency, and not my first bad experience there. If you can help it go to Royal North Shore, especially with your kids.Husband was barely treated, just fluids and sent home, they didn't care to do any scans. When I went to drop off a charger (like 1 minute in and out) so he could contact me at least they told me to leave my 3 yr old daughter outside with strangers!!They didn't do urgent testing for 4 days!!Absolutely avoid!!Previously went there with my daughter (1yrs old), suspected broken arm - I was dismissed and treated like I was being over the top, spoken to like and idiot and only my pushing to be seen did they eventually let us in. X-ray showed broken arm BUT they missed important details which a grainy photo I took on my phone shown to another doctor overseas (a friends dad) he picked up in seconds and I was then able to get the right treatment for my daughter and 6 months later it was finally healed.

These guys are clearly under pressure, in a very busy tough environment. Knock on effect is that it takes a long time to get treated. They were friendly, professional and provided effective treatment and highlighted future risk, and apologized for the long wait despite it not being their fault. If it’s an emergency I would return.

Doctor was extremely rude and disrespectful to me and then slagged of another doctor because she had helped me out but apparently wasn't supposed to. And this was after waiting for four hours. Go to Royal North Shore where you will be treated like a human being

Not the hospitals fault but the understaffing challenges are obvious. Might experience the same thing elsewhere too.

BE VERY CAREFUL & CHALLENGE THE TREATMENT IF UNCERTAIN, I attended the ER department several months ago with an acute swelling next to my thumbnail that was very painful. A female doctor conducted the examination. She then advised that she would apply a block anaesthetic to my thumb and try to drain the swollen area. Although painful having block injections within a few minutes the female successfully having no feeling in my thumb she removed the fluid via a syringe. After applying a thorough dressing I left the hospital and within 24 there was sign of the previous symptoms or associated pain. On Monday 15/0821 I returned to ER with the identical symptoms and pain. I expected the same treatment & success. However, the male doctor with a English accent that treated me went down a very different path. This was despite me relating what occurred previously and how successful that was. The male doctor said he was just going to local anesthetise to the area and proceed. I turned my head away when I noticed the doctor about give the initial injection. The level of pain and the location of the needle (underside of the thumb) I was not ready for at all. My reflex to such pain level was to withdraw my hand. I felt more pain and apologised for moving as the pain was extreme. The doctor continued several times with these very painful injections. He the left the room while the locals became effective. When the doctor returned, he checked numbness and then gave further injections. He the removed the needle from the syringe and proceeded to push the needle into and through the skin until it exited the thumb. He would then use considerable pressure to force the fluids from the infected swelling. This was repeated at least another 4-6 times. The doctor then place a small dressing over the thumb and gave me a script for anti-biotics advising to keep the thumb dry for a few days. Within 2 hours the pain had returned but was more intense than before. My thumb began to throb with pain and started to increase in area of the thumb. A colleague from work suggested I look up Paronychia. It explained the symptoms and gave photos almost identical. The treatment recommended was as per the female doctors treatment. It warned against puncture or incisions due to risk of spreading infection and possible blood contamination, Which is was the treatment given on Monday I believe due to the incorrect treatment my thumb has now further infected and the disregard for my wellbeing has caused needless suffering & pain. I now have an appointment with a GP to determine the extent of the added infection to my thumb.

Understaffed and poorly managed. Healthscope clearly not delivering. The staff are doing an fine job, but there's not enough. Just to see someone in emergency, I had to wait 4 hours. Imagine if I was actually dieing
