The Jolly Swagman Motor Inn Goondiwindi

We were travelling on our move from Qld to NSW with our dogs. We booked here because they offered dine in from the adjoining restaurant and their website stated they served a continental breakfast on Sunday mornings.After a 7+ hour drive with two cars a trailer and our dogs we were so happy to get to The Jolly Swagman and stay somewhere eat, shower and sleep then have good breakfast before heading off for another 7+ hour drive to our next stop.We could only park one car in the parking bays outside the room and had to park our other car and trailer in another area. At the time we thought that was fair being that we would have taken up other people’s car parks.Imagine our disappointment when we called to order diner that would have cost upwards of $90 for our order without drinks. Only to find that the restaurant wasn’t open because they only had 6 rooms occupied.We were also unable to over a continental breakfast for the same reason. So we spend more money for a place to stay that breakfast than we would not be able to order, and have an eat in meal. We could have parked our car with all of the belongings that we had in the trailer in front of the rooms alsoThe room was clean but had that carpet deodoriser smell, which was very strong and we the rooms are very old and the mattresses were awful and I had the sleep in the single bed due to the mattress being so bad on the double/queen bed. Which was actually two mattresses on top on each other.I have had job were I traveled constantly and I have experienced some pretty lousy rooms. But this was disappointing on so many levels.I would not recommend staying here unless you aren’t expecting a meal, breakfast or a solid sleep on a good mattress.

The room was a good size. The bed was extremely comfortable and location was on the outskirts of town but not a long drive into town. Nice quiet place and clean. Would stay there again.

Old style motel. Spacious room and bathroom. Clean, smelled great when I walked in. Comfy bed. Dog friendly with convenient garden space for necessaries. Friendly responsive staff. Excellent place to break your journey.

We stopped in on our way from CQ to Vic. Super friendly can do service, very clean and spacious room and no noise despite the number of other occupied units. This was also in close proximity to supermarkets and, of course the servo so we had no issues getting what we needed. We will stay here each time we come through.

June 2023 - 4/5 Not quite what we remembered. Restaurant not open anymore. It is a bit out of town so a short walk to a top pub. Pet friendly and good parking. Quiet. Shower and bathroom good. Close to Maccas should you be so inclined.We ate at the Queensland Hotel - about a 10-15 minute walk towards town. Great choice. Good for the kids or adults - and dog.Some time back: 5/5 We've stayed here over the years quite a few times. We love it because it takes the dog AND provides a good clean room with a top restaurant. We'd probably stay here without the dog. Good size rooms - with good bathrooms and parking. The walk into town mightn't be to everyone's liking but it is lovely in the early mornings. The food is very good and you don't have to walk far. A really good country Motel.

What a awesome place to stay! All 3 kids loved it along with our dog. Owner Les is lovely along with the cleaners who are always happy to help with a smile and a laugh! Would definitely stay again! Place is clean and tidy and beds very comfortable! Best pet friendly motel we have stayed in for sure!

The place met our needs, in that it was clean, safe and handy to town but we thought it was on the expensive side for what it was. The restaurant is closed until further notice and the room was lacking some of the finer details, e.g. a lounge vs chairs to watch TV, no teaspoons for tea and coffee and no tissues. Would benefit from a better kitchenette for that price I would have expected.

The staff here really are the term country hospitality. They went above an beyond what normal motels do I tip my hat off to the owner an his staff you guys are awesome I would definitely stay again in the future great people great service.. can’t thank you guys enough
