Beyond our expectations.We had the Kings Plains Castle to ourselves enroute from Glen Innes to Inverell.Is this the biggest surprise awaiting travellers who relish an outback experience like no other with the splendor and comfort of a bygone era? A Scotsman built a baronial castleated manor hour on the plains of New England for his fair maiden on 60,000 acres in 1910.Fabulous cooked full English breakfast in the elegant dining room.Play billyards in the down stairs billyard room. Fancy a spot of tennis. Climb the wrought iron staircase to survey the countryside including a large windfarm in the far far distance. Check out the Kings Plains National Park or the resident Texas Long Horn Bulls.... Love it all... Great value with peace and solitude.See the Celtic Standing Stones in Glen Innes. Inverell is also a really delightful town.Road is a better standard from Inverell than Glen Innes.

Absolutely stunning, loved it. Had a wonderful lunch, took the tour. It's a must see if you've in the area. Lot's of great Australian history. Look forward to my next visit

We've just returned from a 3 night stay at this beautiful castle. The hosts are very generous and made our time there absolutely fantastic. The bedrooms are very comfortable, the dining room is a stand-out, the kitchen is well-stocked and there's loads of information on the history of this place.

Beautiful authentic castle, knowledgeable friendly hosts, beds are dreamy, breakfast is yummy set in lovely county setting.

Lovely place to stay and tucked away in the country. I been there four times and love it.

We had one night there in April, 2016. A great experience; quite exceptional. We had the King Suite. Very, very nice, the best room we have experienced in our travels. Not much to do there except explore the castle and its grounds, and take lots of photos. The dining table was laid beautifully for us. Unlike anything else we have experienced in the last 25 years of travels around Australia.
