My wife and I have been attending Battery Point Medical for four years. Recently my wife was told she could no longer be cared for via a mass text message due to her GP moving elsewhere. My daughter had her 12-month vaccinations today and at the end of the appointment we were told the same thing even though I continue to be a patient at the practice. I have found the whole experience appalling. Battery Point medical claims that Our hope is that we can provide you with a truly exceptional level of care and look forward to you feeling an open warmth that speaks more of family than medical practice". There certainly was no warmth or feeling of family

my GP left the practice and I was sent a message saying none of the other GPs at the practice would be taking me on. Terrible and very non compassionate.

Been going for years and was happy. My GP retired and I was assured I could see one of the other doctors. Got an SMS today telling me to read a statement on their website which basically told me I was no longer welcome as a patient. Not even personalised.

For a medical surgery, you'd expect them to be able to send medical referrals, however we've had two not sent in the last month for important appointments/services

I’ve been a client of battery point medical since they first opened. Imagine my surprise when I receive a bulk text stating that I can no longer book there because the GP I happened to see consistently in the past year has moved on (I’ve previously seen other GPs at this practice as well). All while they proudly announce hiring a new GP to their practice. Battery point medical didn’t give their clients any notice and have left lots of people without, at least temporarily, access to primary healthcare. Sad because I otherwise loved this GP clinic.

Despicable dismissal of service via text due to the retirement of a gp. If am left trying to find a new doctor for a child with a chronic and serious health condition, with no notice. My husband who only ever saw the retired practitioner once, also received the text. I am appalled.

The bulk SMS 'firing' of a huge portion of their patients was perhaps unavoidable, and I certainly don't envy the position they were in, but the manner in which it was done left a lot to be desired. They discharged long term loyal patients based on some arbitrary parameters without so much as a thank you for your years of patronage. If there has been any consideration at all for which patients are in the most vulnerable positions & are going to be most affected by an interruption to their access to basic medical care, it certainly isn't evident.

If you would like to be treated like an inferior person, dismissed without the courtesy during a crisis, and spoken to without compassion or professionalism- this is the practice for you! If you need genuine medical care I implore you to seek elsewhere. I have had my files withheld and had endless issues obtaining important and relevant documents after being unfairly discharged through an email. Appalling treatment of vulnerable individuals.
