Extremely rude and abusive like some others have said. We had a friend reach out with a dog dumped on them for anyone that could rehome. We took him into our home. After a vet check up a week later his medical condition which we had no knowledge of was incompatible with our current dog. We only reached out to help find a suitable home instead of a shelter which was were he was heading anyway. I was judged, abused and belittled from this organisation. Disgusting**Update**Nice scripted response you send to anyone who gives you a 1 star review. After searching your reviews, looks like it's only 1 star reviews for the last year at least. How about pull your head out of where the sun don't shine and learn a bit of professionalism.

Edit - this organisation has been reported to theAustralian Charities and not for profits commission.Multiple breaches in relation to duty of care, misconduct and conflicts of interest. The reviews here are all evidence of these breaches so thank you. Please do not donate to this self-righteous company.I wish I read the reviews earlier. Absolutely horrible people. No compassion whatsoever. Making money from desperate people. They would prefer you hand a dog into the pound for death row rather than offer advice on how to rehome safely. You want help rehoming, you would get less guilt advertising for free on your local group and then researching the people yourself. Save yourself the mental trauma of dealing with the inconceivable attitude of this organisation. Please donate to the real rescue groups instead of these grubs.

We adopted Dougie, a male Kelpie x, 5 years ago and he has been a fantastic pet. The description and advice given to us by his foster family was spot on. We've put in a bit of work training him and exercising him regularly but have been well rewarded for the work put in. We love him! Thanks AWDRI.

I wish I had read these reviews before I sent an inquiry form in.Like others who have posted similar reviews the response to my inquiry about trying to find a more suitable home and better life for my Koolie x Kelpie was damning and accusatory. A very disgusting way to manipulate someone into feeling even worse about an extraordinarily hard decision. They assumed I was trying to dump him and was not providing proper care. Which is not the case. As far as actually answering my query about getting some direction on how to do this I at least expect a response that would put me on the right track. This was not the case. They may not stand for dog dumping but their responses leave you with no other option but to rock up to a pound or shelter and do just that. If this organisation was truly about ensuring that dogs that needed to be rehomed FOR WHAT EVER REASON were rehomed responsibly then they would take more of an effort to provide assistance in what ever way they could. Instead unless you are dying or incapacitated they class it as dumping. After reading some of the responses on these reviews I am not expecting anything other than a generic response of “if you read the reviews you would know we don’t stand for dog dumping….”Which goes to show how much they DONT actually care about what they are doing and more about the hero complex this organisation seems to be founded on.Oh and before you throw “selfish lifestyle change” “wanna be dog dumper” “use us a commodity”, I love my dog and I love the life I have with him. I was seeking advice on finding him a home that can give him the life he deserves and needs. There is no lifestyle change desired, no dumping and I was reaching out to an organisation who I thought might be able to put me on the right track for doing this. Obviously I found one that is on track for a lawsuit for emotional damages due to their insulting, degrading and manipulative responses.

If i could give a zero I would. This disgusting organisation will belittle and judge you for needing to rehome a dog. They will tell you that if you can’t train a dog, you have no business raising your children. They are the lowest of low human beings. Absolutely disgusting service and am embarrassed to see such an organisation allowed to be in the business of rescuing animals when this is how they treat human beings seeking help.Response to your response…Maybe you yourself should have done your research and discovered that I’ve never come to you to “dump a dog” of any kind! But this response shows what scum of the earth you truly are as an organisation. People come to you for help, for advice and for support and all you do is criticise, judge and abuse them. You should be ashamed and embarrassed of yourselves.

Amazing people that do so much to help the working dog breeds. I've been blessed to have been able to adopt two incredible dogs (heeler kelpie X and a kelpie X) through AWDRI. I will forever be grateful to them for these beautiful family members that they rescued.Sadly, far too many working dog breeds end up getting re-homed, which I find absolutely inconceivable that people can do to them!! Dogs love you more than anything and they are for life. If you don't understand that concept, then move along and don't get a dog. It's heartbreaking too that so many poor dogs get re-homed because people adopt these working dogs, without understanding what training etc is needed with working dog breeds. They are the most amazing and rewarding dogs, so faithful and loyal, but you have to do right by them and give them plenty of your time.If you are serious about adopting a new family member, that you will include heavily in your life, then I highly recommend AWDRI. If you would ever consider re-homing a dog, for any reason, then please don't get a dog at all from any rescue group or breeder.

Absalute rubbish from these people.Do not recommend.Telling people they should have children because they struggle with a dog that needs more attention than their child with autism.Very poor quality.

Rescued two dogs through awdri. We met the criteria which isn't unreasonable so the process was very easy now we have fantastic new family members!

I can't put into words what a great organization Australian working dog rescue is. Thanks to the amazing work AWDRI and it's very special foster carers! We now have a beautiful and child friendly dog who is (and will be) part of our lives forever. AWDRI managed an interstate adoption that seemed easier and friendlier than any breeder dog stories we have heard. Why go to a breeder for a dog if there are so many special dogs that need homes? Is the choice of colour and cuteness you made something that you can be proud of and tell your children about... We could have bought any type of breed but we would not swap x mixed gorgeous girl for anything. Dogs are for life; the memories are forever.
