Bastion Point

Mallacoota is full of great wilderness beaches and amazing sites. This one is the easiest to access and right in the middle of town. It has public toilets, a boat ramp, look out and is probably Mallacoota's best accessible beach. The surf beach here is patrolled by Surf Life Savers who do a fantastic job.

Bastion point A place for a peaceful walk , Just a beach. Plenty of parking space and one boat ramp . You can surf with plenty of wave’s. We came Mallacoota yesterday it’s December so the weather is good and sunny. The beach is not cleaned well and no lifeguard here for safety.

Beautiful but it's also a sad place my daughter's ashes were scattered here. She is now swimming with the dolphins she loved

This is really a hidden gem. Go past the piper and you will find the most amazing rock pools and formations. You can find crabs, fish and star fish all in the rock pools. If your a photographer you'll love the variety this place presents.

Action Point at MallacootaVisited on 10/3/2021It must be my lucky day to arrive unknowingly in Mallacoota on the day when the ship HMAS Choules and Navy crews returned to the shores of Bastion Point to be honoured for their rescue service during the 2019-2020 bushfires crisis.Australian government has made Mallacoota as the official ceremonial home port for HMAS Choules.I manage to capture the image of a Black Hawk helicopter when I was at the town centre. Black Hawk helicopters airlifted those who were vulnerable, super sick, or ill or injured.From the lookout, I can see HMAS Choules anchored at a distance in the sea, while the burnt out trees and bushes on land serve to remind us of the disaster which happened a year ago.Bastion Point has a beautiful sandy beach. However, the rockwall can be unforgiving.

Great view from lookout, overlooking the inlet. Plenty of parking available. Boat ramp accessible. Public toilets near by.
