Hillston Backpackers

Really lovely place! I stayed 5 weeks and met super cool people and had a lot of fun. The management is really nice to you and always try to find you work. Go get a cabin, the privacy and own bathroom is totally worth it. Besides Hillston is a small town with two pubs, so you can save money. Though with the right group of people you can still have epic partys! Can definitely recommend this place and hope to come back in June 2019!

If you're a backpacker looking to do Farmwork to either stack up some money to keep travelling or get your 88 days for the second year visa, this is really where you want to be.We were tired of just sitting around in Melbourne looking for jobs over the Internet so we decided we would just pick a place and go see what we can do there to get a job. The reason we picked Hillston is because there are alot of crops that grow here that overlap, so there is basically work the whole year around and it's surrounded by farms.And then we found this place, with Trevor & Paula. They've just opened this place and it's absolutely amazing thanks to them. They are the heart and soul of this place and they will help you get a job in no time. They know everybody in town and will hook you up with the right contractors or farmers (because there are alot of scammers out there).THIS PLACE IS THE BOMB, also because there isn't much that you can spend your money on around here, it makes it very easy to save up money fast.Again, thank you so much Trevor & Paula for creating this place and if you're a person reading this, you won't regret coming here.

During my stay here, my bed, my friends beds and the beds they moved us two were bed bug ridden, management first tried to blame us, then admitted they had had them for a while.From what I could see, no permanent measures were taken to exterminate the issue, they would just put new, PAYING customers into a room they knew was infested. The hostel as a whole is mediocre, dirty and poorly managed but full of friendly people (customers). The owners on the other hand are bitter and nasty and some of the behaviour exhibited during my visit was embarrassing and on the edge between worrying and disturbing.My friends were only given a refund on the grounds they didn’t write reviews online.. I signed no such bribe.I wish half a star was possible.

Really good working hostel with a great manager. Try to get a cabine asap, the dorms are not really good for staying longer. You must also have a car cause trevor, the manager does not offer a lift or a hostel car. Had a good time there while working on an almond farm! Thanks Trevor!

Honestly one of the best places to stay and meet the most incredible people. I would highly recommend. You never know the love of your life could actually be in Hillston...maybe ;)

This place is very convenient and staff is very friendly always helping backpackers. I love the cabins ,it's got toilets, shower, big fridge, TV, AC and heating. I felt it's like my home during my stay. Always it's good for long term stay. I always highly recommend this place to every one visit in Hillston. Trevor you are amazing and very helpful. Also I can't forget Manager John, he was a always nice to everyone and very friendly too. Actually I feel this place like my family place in Australia. Better, nice and very peaceful place in Hillston. All the best .

Only stayed one night as I was passing thru to Melbourne. Had a good backpackers vibe and there was a nice communal feel.Room wasnt anything flash, but about what you would expect for a backpackers and was pretty clean. Good for the price.Good communication with the owner when booking, but had to check in late and there were some issues, but got sorted when I went in and asked around for help. Would definitely use again.

Hillston Backpackers is exactly what your looking for, the rooms are great the manager Tula is amazingly helpful, work everywhere, i went twice..

After a seriously shocking experience in Mildura where we lived in appalling accommodation and working conditions we travelled to Hillston with the intention to pick oranges. En route we randomly came across Hillston Backpackers which turned out to be our light at the end of the tunnel. Trevor welcomed us with a warm smile and gave us a guided tour of the accommodation even though it was well past 10pm! He seemed so genuine, kind and interested in what we were doing. He gave us the names of some contractors that he trusted and who he knew would not rip us off, this was exactly what we needed!The accommodation is brilliant, it is clean, spacious, lots of fridge and freezer space, plenty of showers with warm water and fans in the dorm rooms. There is free tea and coffee AND there is free wifi. This place serves its purpose of being a good honest backpackers with nothing to hide. On top of that the owners will help you find farmwork! If you are in or near Hillston I would definitely recommend this place!
