Perth Drumming

I met David when playing with Perth Metro Pipe Band a few years ago, and remember, as a tenor drummer, having difficulty getting the timing of the beats in a particular bar just right - it was then that I became aware of David’s skill at getting the message across. Through all my contacts with David, I can confirm that he is a real professional and an extremely knowledgeable and talented musician. Combine these with his enthusiasm and seemingly endless patience and you have the perfect instructor! I sincerely wish Perth Drumming every success.

David Johnston is a gentleman first and foremost. He is the most professional snare drummer I have met.When we were in the same band, Perth Metro we travelled to the Worlds Pipe Band Championships and he pretty much ran both our grade 4B and 3A corps with selfless dedication and commitment.He got great reward for this with a high placing at the worlds in 3A and bringing a inexperienced snare line together to play really well at their first ever Worlds in 4B.Davy has also ran a few drum classes for my newly formed beginner band Mandurah and Peel Pipe Band to help us to play decent beginner scores and get the band out and playing to enable us to fundraise.I can’t speak more highly of Davy, you won’t be disappointed if he hire his services.

Before meeting David my son was trying to advance his snare drum skills with other teachers, but it was hard work and he was feeling quite frustrated. During the lessons David was able to establish the problem and rectify my son's technique. David is a patient teacher who gently moulds and encourages his students to be the best they can be. Now, my son plays with confidence and is steadily increasing the level of difficulty with David's professional guidance.
