Had a lens with fungal problems. Chris replaced some of the glass and serviced the lens at a very reasonable price. Great business run by friendly, knowledgeable people. Highly recommended!

Not sure where are these negative reviews from! The service was really amazing and he told me there would be a fee if I wanted to get it checked up but they can’t change parts since it’s too old! But I got an old point and shoot from there and some films, all really smooth!

Would not recommend going to. They do less than the bare minimum you would expect- Poor communication: Unfulfilled 2 day quotation/inspection promise- Unprofessional service: Though the team was friendly, I received unclear details on the quotation service from female staff member before handing in camera.- Incorrectly stated viewfinder sensor was broken when its partially working.

Chris is a diminishing market commodity in the photographic industry. He's not just knowledgeable but has a thorough knowledge of every camera and lens made in the last century!

Got Chris to clean my Lumix camera sensor cause there was a lot of dust and I could see dirt in the lenses. He charged me $145 to do that. When I got the camera back, it looked exactly the same and the dust was still there. I told him that I needed that dust gone and he said he cleaned it and that wasn't the problem.I had to leave Sydney so I just paid and left. When I arrived in Melbourne I gave the camera to another shop where they cleaned it and they found a lot of dust in the sensor and the lenses.Basically he just charged me to do nothing. It says in the invoice that he cleaned the sensor but that's far from true. Scam. Stay away.

I don’t know about their other services but in terms of repairing the camera, I will not recommend this place at all to anyone even though the stuff are nice and sweet. In the begging of October, I brought my Nikon FM2 due to shutter issue as I needed my camera soon for uni which I informed to them before hand. Chris told me he could give me a quote in a week or 2. However I did not hear from them for weeks. I gave them a call but they either didn’t answer or told me they will get back to me after confirming to Chris which they never did. I ended up getting back my camera around end of December which I clearly wasn’t able to use my camera for uni even though I previously informed about it. In terms of fees, I paid $55 for initial payment and $240 later on so almost $300. It is not cheap but I understand that these services are expensive in Sydney so I didn’t have much problems. Well, only until this week.I brought my camera to my Korea trip but it stopped working again with same issue. I immediately brought it to camera service in Korea. I told the guy what happened and that it had same problem before as well. The first thing he said after examined my camera was “Are you sure you got it fixed before?” Because apparently they did not do a thing. There was no trace of cleaning, replacing or repairing whatsoever. All they did was removing some sponge material from film chamber. I understand my camera is quite old and my not be in a best condition but if I’m paying nearly $300 to get it fixed, I expect it to get actually fixed properly. I ended up paying another $200 in Korea which I didn’t have to pay if this place did their job properly in first place. This was very frustrating since I didn’t even get to use my camera when I needed the most but still had to pay freaking $300. Not only that, it wasn’t actually fixed so I had to get it fixed again and pay again???? I think that is ridiculous and extremely disappointing. If I knew earlier and could find my receipt, I would so ask for a refund.Just save your money everyone…

I took in my Nikon F2 with a broken light meter. The technician Chris took a quick look and had a good idea what the problem was. I was charged a $45 inspection fee. He took the camera and assured me he would call me back the following day with a formal quote for repair. Two days went by and I got no call. I called him, and was told I would have the quote the next day. This was followed by me calling 4 or 5 more times and visiting the shop once over a 2 week period trying to get the quote from him. Eventually I pulled up the Whilton google reviews and was horrified by the stories I read from other customers. I lost all confidence is getting my camera fixed at Whilton - thank you to those who shared their experiences! Chris finally came back with a quote that was more than double his initial estimate, and more than the price of a new F2. Of course I did not go ahead with the job, and I will be taking my business elsewhere. Avoid this place - their customer experience is consistently terrible.

The staff here are rude and condescending. I did however buy a manual film slr from them and the camera works well. I think they're good technically but have terrible customer service.
