Amity Apartment Hotels

Very good apartment hotel in central South Yarra. Room had all amenities, including washing machine and fully stocked kitchen. Heating was great. Very clean throughout. We arrived early and the nice man on reception let us into our room early, which was much appreciated. Will return when in Melbourne next.

We stayed in this hotel in late 2017 and really enjoyed it. Thus, when we finally returned back to Melbourne, we chose this place again. Booked 3 different apartments and all were wonderful. Had washing machine and dryer (including washing powder), small kitchen with great appliances.It was clean and warm and lovely. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Would come back and stay here again for sure.

This was one of the strangest hotel experiences I've had, and my headline statement would be to think twice before staying here.Things got off to a bad start for me immediately after I'd booked, when I was sent a passive aggressive email informing me that the reception was only open 9am-4pm Monday to Friday, and that if I wanted to arrive outside of those hours I would need to proactively arrange this with the hotel, or else my booking would be cancelled! (I would have thought that, if a hotel chooses to provide such limited reception hours, the onus would be on the hotel and not the guest to make this work.) I was also told that a $300 bond would be taken from my credit card. None of this information was provided upfront before I made my booking.When we arrived we quickly discovered that many of the features promised on the website were not provided. There was no WiFi available. The toiletries provided were minimal, and were not replenished during our stay. The rooms were never serviced, despite the website claiming this would happen twice a week. The air conditioner broke on the second day of our stay.And this is where things get weird. We were literally unable to report any of these issues or get them fixed, because we couldn't locate any staff. The downstairs desk that looked like it might have been the reception was never staffed (even during the times specified in the booking email), and appeared to have been abandoned for some weeks or months. No one answered when we called the reception number provided. I read online that someone had found the reception on Floor 1, but there was nothing there either when I checked.In the end we just put up with the broken air conditioner and the lack of WiFi, and we bought our own toiletries. But if we had have encountered a serious problem (like being locked out of our room), I'm not sure how we would have resolved this.Check out was again an odd process. I dropped our key card into a letter box outside the apartment building marked key return". I had to guess that this was the right place to leave it

Husband and I stayed in an apartment for one night as we were going to Rod Laver Arena for a show.The staff were friendly and the apartment was wonderful. Had everything you need, including your own washing machine and dryer (they even supplied washing powder).It was clean, warm and quiet. We parked underneath the apartments which was handy because Claremont Street is a narrow one way road with construction taking up many spots.We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Rooms were spacious and clean, well appointed and the apartments are conveniently located. The reception staff were very helpful. We have booked again for next year!

We stayed in 3 different apartments over a 7 day period. The 3rd apartment at their request and unclear on the reasons on why we had to move. While the apartments have all the right amenities, I was a bit concerned about the cleanliness in general. The floor was good, the beds were good but walls and doors, glass on pictures, etc. were very grubby in places. We understand that cleaning staff are hard to find these days. The third apartment we moved to was facing the Yarra train station and was noisier and hotter than either of the other two. We had people up until 5am one night talking very loudly in an apartment below so that was not pleasant. I would not stay in that particular apartment again. However, I cannot fault the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The location was good for us but we would need to be away from roads and trains in any future visit.

Amity's Claremont Street property is in an excellent location, close to cafes & restaurants and the major Chapel St & Toorak Rd shopping precincts, as well as to the strategic South Yarra train station and a tram service along Toorak Rd. Our room was spacious (somewhat muted in decor), had reasonable storage, and usefully provided good cooking, washing & drying facilities. The room was not serviced during our 6-day stay (some of it over Easter) and there was no note on the empty ground floor office window where Reception used to be, to advise that Reception has relocated to the 1st Floor, where extra stocks of consumables can be obtained. Having bumped into a staff member in the lifts, we were encouraged to email (!) such requests anytime, which presumably would extend to cleaning, if we did not feel like going to the 1st Floor.

What to say.. big disappointment about the customer service.First, I arrived at 11am because I received a mail saying that the reception will be open at 11am.When I arrived there, there was nobody..I called several times, nobody answered..Had to wait 30 min outside to finally have someone opening the door for me without any apologies.Then during your stay (I stayed for a week), not a single housekeeper came to empty your bins, change your towels, give you more shampoo, shower gel etc..You have to ask them..!But then, if you need anything from the reception, it is a real mission to get someone.They dont answer to the phone. Only by email.For the whole stay, there were no wifi at all. They said there were trying to fix it but a week later, was still not the case.The good thing was that the one bedroom flat is big, the location is just near south yarra station and the price is cheap.

Stayed at Amity for a work conference for two days and it was a dream!Room had a comfortable bed with everything that I needed, a lot of great food locations nearby and the pool on the 6th floor was amazing to soak in after a stressful day!

I stay here regularly for work. The apartments are always clean and comfortable. The beds are king size (2 mattresses joined) and in some apartments they have become a bit lumpy with the mattress forming a hard ridge through the middle of the bed. Otherwise, I enjoy staying there.
