We found Adam through articles of award winning houses he had designed. Our experience was good in a very different way because we weren't after an ultra-modern design but something more timeless.For the price I paid, I got a lot from Adam. He didn’t just draw what I told him to draw, which started from a few pictures I found on the internet. He assessed the land, asked questions about my family, considered our priorities and also the energy efficiency of the designs.We don’t always agree with Adam but that’s ok. We made choices which were not the best architecturally but they worked for our family circumstances. Adam worked with those conditions but ensured that the overall design was not compromised.I think the difficulty with working with me is that I’m very exacting. I go back and develop my own edits, my own photoshopped pictures and send them through to Adam. But I’m impressed with Adam because he perseveres, he doesn’t just take what I give him and updates the plan. In most cases he would ensure what I’m doing makes sense and provides that continuity in the design.The approvals for water, gas, electricity, EER and a couple of others were all processed very quickly and I attribute this to Adam’s thorough knowledge of the processes, rules and requirements.The other good thing about working with Adam is that you will be able to get free access to the ProSpex software, which was also something Adam had developed. This software allows you to create a very detailed inclusions list to send out for builder quotations, and ensures that you can compare apples to apples when you assess those quotes.You also get a digital copy of his book “Nailed It”, which has a lot of useful information for your building journey. Even if you don’t go with Adam, I’d still recommend you to get a copy of his book and the ProSpex software, which will assist a lot in making your building process a less stressful one.Building a house is an extremely stressful process, which is why you need to work with good people who you can trust. Adam was one of the people I used and I would recommend highly to anyone going through this process. You won’t be disappointed.
