After travelling from Townsville to Bowen for the kids' Saturday morning football game we decided to have fish & chips for lunch.It was extremely busy, but the staff were calm, efficient and communicated the wait would be half hour.We ordered using the QR code and sat outside until the meal was ready.The crumbed red throat was the best piece of fish I have ever had. The crumb was perfect and even our 8-year-old that usually refuses to eat fish - ate a whole piece! The food was not greasy, and the chips were a family portion.The kids agreed that it was worth the wait, and I was impressed with the value for money.The only constructive thing is that the outdoor area needed tending to. The tables were a bit gritty & dirty. Luckily, I had my Dettol wipes in my bag to clean ours but there was a lot of uncleared tables and bins near full.

If you like deep fry then good for you. Wrong choice for us as you can't really taste the seafood that well. Service was not overly welcoming. Surroundings pretty plain but come up well in photos. Recommend you take away and have it one of the lovely local beaches.

FINALLY got the chance to stop in on our way through Bowen. I have waited for this moment and Bird's DID NOT disappoint. The staff were lovely, the food incredible and the view just a few meters down the road to top it all off. Will always come back.

Freshly caught fish and a wide range of options for different fish. The chips aren’t the best but the fish definitely makes up for it. Very cool place to eat out the back, overlooking the water. Staff are nice and friendly.

You must stop here in Bowen...we have passed this beautiful town heading to other destinations!! Sooo glad we stopped to view the bay...we arrived late...but thought we would find a great fish&chip shop...and indeed we did...the most wonderful fish&chips anywhere...and the best bit...you can purchase the food for takeaway and go through to the Cafe and eat your fish&chips watching the boats and seeing the fish in the bay...a really divine stop...next time we will stay in Bowen and ride our bikes around the bay! You can order seafood experiences off the trawler...we opted for f.o.d...only 13bucks with a softdrink also...can't wait to visit again...magnificent qld fish&chip experience!

Great fish and chips, splurged and got the breaded coral trout, was a large piece and was well worth it. Chips were fresh and crispy. Was a nice change from the typical breading. Only complaint is tartar sauce was $3.50, seemed a bit steep for a condiment. Service friendly and quick☺️ also really nice area to eat next to water out back next to marina. Visited this place today as the reviews were looking good. Cute place along the marina. Nice and spacious. Beautiful seating area out the back.Lady who served us was nice. We were a group of 4. She took our order. We ordered the $69 fisherman's pack which was the largest pack they had. In addition I added a grilled fish, a crumbed fish and 6 squid rings. All up $106 worth of seafood.Seafood is reasonably priced. Portions are okay.Fish was delicious and fresh. Prawns were also super sweet and crunchy. Squid rings were a little disappointing. Barely any chips added considering the size of the pack.As seen in the photo we got two small tartare squirt packs. For the ENTIRE order.I asked for another two tartar. They told me they were 40c each and u have to pay. The money isn't the issue here as we spent so much already on our meal. One extra fish is $14 and that's all u get. Would it really cost them so much to throw in another 2 tartare sauce? One for each extra fish we purchased.The lack of hospitality is very disappointing.

Was in the area (road trip from Cairns to Sydney) and came here for a late lunch / early dinner. Ordered fish and chips, some calamari and a bug tail. All delicious! Would have been great if the bug tail was less battered as lost the taste of the tail a bit. When we went we were the only ones there so service was fast. Great little place - has a nice outdoor seating area out the back with water views. Food was good and tasty - probably no standouts though.

Up for a visit from country Victoria. Was lucky enough to be taken into birds for a bite for lunch. So stoked I did. The grilled coral trout I had could not have been better. The venue itself has seating on the marina which was the perfect setting. Was so good I couldn’t go home without a second visit. Came back in and had the seafood basket. Could not fault it, so good. This is a great business from the location, to the staff and most importantly the food. Couldn’t recommend highly enough
