Absolutely fabulous. I gave it five stars for three star accommodation. It was exactly what we were looking for. Comfy beds, cooking facilities and a warm fire that was already lit pending our arrival. Hosts were helpful and the location superb. We wandered through the forest in the late afternoon, then had a more brisk walk upon rising, what a wonderful way to start the day. In the evening we toasted marshmallows in the fire pit and enjoyed a hot chocolate before bed.Thank you , we will definitely return.

Spent 3 nights in cottage that is in desperate need of attention. The toilet is outside with a door that jammed and no handle to pull it open. The bathroom is freezing cold. No bathmat but got one when we begged for one together with an extension cord to plug in our BYO fanheater. The doors could not be locked as the present owners never got a key??? The built in heater had seen better days. Broken with Fan missing. So we had to leave the fireplace door open in order to have heat come into the room, watching out for sparks flying into the room. Flyscreens would not close, however was not an issue being winter. Would not recommend staying there in summer with only one fan and only one bedroom out of 3 with a power point. Recommend taking own fans and heaters if you plan staying there and pay a high price. Oven runs on gas and needs attention.Meal in restaurant nice but had to eat with coats on as it was cold in the restaurant.Nice setting and good for walks and close to wineries and gnomesville. If you are used to comfort look elsewhere.

A great place to stay due to being very close to nature with lots of wildlife around. A very rustic feel and some upgrades need to be made. Floors are becoming very uneven and if its a cold night take an extension lead as there is minimal power points. Great place to go away with a large family or group and make your own fun. The free fire wood for the Fire Place and the fire pit out the front is a great touch.

If there was an option for half a star I’d have chosen that, but unfortunately I have to go with one full star which this accomodation truly does not deserve. There’s a reason why there isn’t any Pictures of the rooms online, it’s because they are disgusting. The house was built in the 1900’s and seems as though they haven’t been cleaned since then either. Cobwebs everywhere, spiders in every room, this house is prebuilt to be the perfect location to host a Halloween party! Besides the accommodation being repulsive, it is located in a beautiful valley, so it’s a shame the accommodation could not be matched with the scenic view. Honestly the owners need a long hard think about what they are providing to paying customers, and think to themselves would they want to live in a place like that? I hope this review gets through to the hosts, and something is done about this old, rundown, neglected, decaying place they call a “home”.

If you want clean look somewhere else. Everything is old and there is holes in the floor. When I stayed their, there was a spider in the shower. If you truly want to have a good time you must be close to nature. But I loved every second I spent their and J would highly recommend staying their.

Beautiful location and place to stay. It is easy to get lost so be sure of your directions. Mobile coverage is very poor in this area.I would advise wearing very warm clothing and maybe packing an extra blanket if you are staying overnight. The staff have been there for years and keep the cottages spotless and well maintained. If you are looking for somewhere to escape, this is the place to go.Only four stars because of the lack of mobile coverage.

Great location & friendly (very laid back) staff but cottages need bulk attention. I’m not normally one to complain & I love the outdoors but for the money, we expected better. Most doors barely closed or locked. No air con or tv/DVD. Holes in floor. Ceiling in main lounge collapsing. Septic tanks right outside front door releasing unpleasant odours. No sign for which place reception is. Fans were cheap & did little to stop us melting. Not worth the $190/night tariff but definitely has potential if owners spent some time & money getting them up to standard.

The good: amazing location, right next to the forest and directly opposite the Wellington Forest Discovery Center. Proximity to lots of attractions. Excellent value, particularly if you have a large group. Wildlife abounds and the stars at night are beautiful. Friendly caretaker, wood fires, well equipped, plenty of beds. No technology. The not so good: quite rustic accommodation, toilet outside the house. Bathroom quite basic.Overall I would highly recommend this place if you want to get away from it all and get in touch with nature.
