Delicious home style veggie burger packed with salad + avocado!! We’ve been driving through Mortlake to Portland for years and we only noticed this cafe today but after tasting their burgers, it’s officially our new favourite place to stop for a quick, healthy bite!

Fantastic! Was walking past looking for late lunch early dinner and owner was closing up. He was very welcoming to his contemporary cafe come supermarket and soon were enjoying a great coffee and burgers that were both awesome! Great hospitality and service.Thanks mate we didn’t get your name but your on our list of faves when travelling through!

From the outside, Deli Fresh Cafe looks like your average countryside independent supermarket.Once you go inside, it seems underwhelming with a limited choice of products (though there were an interesting range of local products like local jams) and curiously empty shelves, perhaps the result of having two supermarkets in a small town.However, the real gem is hidden in the back of the store, where the deli counter is. As well as having a small range of deli products (some nice looking cheeses), the counter serves handmade burgers and sandwiches. There is a great range of burgers, and the service is super friendly.I had a huge burger, The Midnight, which was great value with pretty much double everything. The beef patties were noticeably fresh and very good quality.At the suggestion of the guy who was running the store, we went down to the nearby park which has a small lake, and ate our burgers looking at the nice view there.

Stopped here just before for the first time with my partner,wow the burgers were delish,Peter had exceptional customer service skills,so easy to talk to,so friendly and after striking a conversation about our home he even offered to give us a hand,how kind thankyou Peter

Awful customer service here. No one could look me in the eye and talk to me. Took way too long to make a simple burger and heat up a focaccia. Everyone just stood around doing nothing. Not coming back here, would not recommend for an outing in Mortlake. Also the food was NOT worth the wait.

Deli Fresh Cafe
From the outside this place looks very unassuming. Once inside I was surprised. The front of the place is a grocery shop, the back is where you’ll find some of the best food. This is my first time and I had the salami focaccia. Full of flavour for each mouthwatering bite. Fantastic service, treated as an individual rather than just another customer. I’m already looking forward to my next chance to eat here.

The owner is a really friendly and knowledgeable person about the region. We always come here for a quick bite to eat and ice cream when we are passing through. Mortlake is an interesting place to stop by and visit, and the owners here reflect great vision for the town's future.

Very nice. Lovely home made burgers. Friendly proprietor. Also contains a grocery store, so you can stock up on essentials for the road.
