HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We engaged Shaun to completely renovate our 1990’s home and we couldn’t be happier. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, approachable and helpful. He was very thorough, and what was best is that he always kept us up to date with the progress of construction especially considering the pandemic had slowed allot of the resources down.I have read the other review which was one star, and in all honesty how could you give Shaun anything less than 5 stars.

Shaun is excellent. Quality, attention to detail, communication and timeliness were all 10 out of 10. He was always available to help us with whatever we needed while renovating the whole house. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you Shaun for making our dream home come true.

We commenced our renovations with Expand Renovate in May 2021, the initial dealings of the project were relatively professional with organising the design, contract etc. however once the contract was signed and initial deposit paid we’ve experienced nothing but poor management, set backs and serious lack of communication. The other reviewer made a comment that pandemic delays were a cause. Unfortunately we didn't find this was the case at all, stock was in, we made sure all the supplies we ordered were in fact in stock to avoid this exact scenario. We found out things were delayed because Expand Renovate weren't paying their invoices - we had this directly from suppliers themselves advising us of this and the reason behind why they weren't rocking up to site. To add to this Expand Renovate would request monies BEFORE the stage was complete which was also a massive red flag (we engaged legal advice at that point)There were red flags from the beginning; the communication of the building approval, Expand Renovate knew we wanted to commence building at the end of April 2021 however this merged into May, every time we seeked an update we were advised “it was in motion” however I ended up calling the council myself to find out progress and was given more informative information, this lack of communication set the tone of the project. We tried to address this by advising Expand Renovate we were unhappy with the level of communication however this never improved and just got worse as the project continued. There were instances where we had been told that products had been purchased however when calling the companies directly we were told on several occasions they had not paid. Two particular instances was a major milestone in our build and that was windows which secured fixing stage and the kitchen which secured fit out. The fact these two items weren’t paid for delayed us by circa 14-18 weeks. To add to this, tiles weren’t paid for when I was told they were paid, plumbing fit out products weren’t paid and I had an embarrassing conversation with a supplier thinking they were going to be delivered on a certain day as per wording from Expand Renovate in a text message and they hadn’t even been paid for. At this point we had been advised by trades that payment hasn’t been made on services completed on our project (months prior) so was careful in following up with itemsWe are now 15 months in to a six month renovation and still have no certainty on the finishing date, final certificate of occupancy has still not been provided, to add to this we requested on several occasions a formal extension of time in which Expand Renovate struggled to understand what this was even though it’s a common occurrence for Master Builders.Their attitude in communications is really unprofessional to the point where we seeked legal advice because they wouldn’t respond in a professional manner so we had no idea when things were going to be completed (and still don’t), ignoring phone calls, being snarky on text messages and just ignoring us in general when seeking project updates. Their own contractors advised us they had experienced the same.I would be seeking experiences from other owners who have worked with Expand Renovate to provide their experience and ensure you are doing your due diligence on the builder. Best thing to do is make sure the reviews are legitimate - there are duplicate reviews on this business which I would personally see as an attempt to push up their ratings. We have been waiting for practical completion for over 4 months now with no end in sight as to when we receive the certification of completion. I wish we had spoken to other owners before signing a contract as we have heard they were all experiencing the same thing. My advice, stay clear
