Colhurst House
Our room at Colhurst house was lovely. Spacious, extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. However, there were a few disappointments. We had to collect the keys from the pub nearby which came with no instructions, so we arrived at the front door wondering which key to use. Once we entered, there was no one there and we had no idea which room was ours. We wandered around the big house before guessing that our green key meant we had the green room. Some instructions would have been helpful. Also, Colhurst House should not claim that it is a bed and breakfast, when there is no breakfast provided as this is quite misleading. There's a kitchen there but we weren't sure if it was for guest use, because again we couldn't find any advice. We think this information should be provided at the time of booking.

Charming period mansion, lovely garden. Room was tastefully furnished, clean and very comfortable and enjoyed the lovely deep bath. Loved the elegant loungeroom. Excellent breakfasts!! Stairs are steep but Patty is friendly and helpful and offered to help with our luggage. Central location. Was a pleasure to stay here. Will be staying here again.

A very pretty photo location as the home is well kept and has beautiful gardens. Convenient location but also not super private or quiet because it's so close to town.

Seems like guests have varied check in experiences depending on who’s on staff each day. Our experience was quite smooth. We booked the day of and I received a call to coordinate a time for us to pick up the keys, which was quick and easy. The room was small (albeit a bit cold in the winter), though the bed was comfortable and shower was hot. We had coffee pods in our room but no kettle or tea bags. Overall, a nice stay, though a few small things can be improved (based on our experience and seems like the experience of other reviewers), particularly given the higher price point.

From the check-in to check-out everything was great. Ashleigh was very helpful when we arrived for the check-in and making sure we know everything about our stay. The room was very clean, bright and very pretty, bathroom area was designed brilliantly with the high ceiling and a window on the ceiling, very spacious area, jacuzzi and the view of the garden! Will come back

I rarely write reviews of less than 4 stars but in this case it was hard to do otherwise. The property is within easy walking distance to the main street. There was just enough parking for 4 cars; it was pretty tight but on both nights I was there, we managed to squeeze in. 4 big 4wd's would not have fitted. There was ample hot water in the shower and plenty of soap, shampoo, etc.My complaints were: -* Shower curtains tucked into a deep, clawfoot bath but despite my best efforts to keep the floor dry, shower water flooded the floor.* 2 single beds were joined together, resulting in a ridge down the middle which kept rolling me off to the edge of the bed.* the bed rolled around the floor when I was merely sitting on the bed. It kept rolling to more than 30 cm off the wall until I folded up a floor rug and put it under one wheel. I was just sitting on the bed reading, nothing more energetic.* a dirty handbasin.* wine glasses with fingerprints and smears on the outside of them.* tea/coffee rings on the coffee table from liquid spilled by previous guests.* I pulled the TV table out of the corner so I could see it better and there was thick dust in one corner behind it.* the room had the grand title of The Tartan Room". This was because the room had a tartan fabric bedhead

Beautifully maintained house with different themes for different rooms. Common lounge area to relax. Daily room service with bar fridge is the Tartan room we stayed in. Conveniently located with eaterys and bars walking distance.

Beautiful period mansion, comfortable spacious room ( white room). Nice breakfast. When we arrived we knocked on the back door ( as directed), the host looked surprised and seemed like she was not expecting us. She was not welcoming and briefly showed us to our room. She was not rude but not friendly either. Kind of a bad vibe.

Quite simply a hidden gem in Mount Gambier.Colhurst House is tucked away almost right in the centre of the main town, and within easy walking distance to some of the best foodie pubs in town, and the cave gardens. The rooms are well presented and always immaculate.I stay here as my hotel of choice each week for work, and recommend this or the Commodore as the best accommodation in the town for my colleagues.
