Arran and Paula were absolutely amazing at building a property for me. Being in the property industry myself, they were the clear standout for me and they were great price-wise in comparison to other companies.

I invested almost 11 months of my time working with Arran and Paula Atkinson of Cavailer Homes and ended up being very disappointed(heart broken in fact) with the end result.I paid Arran $11,000.00 to do the ground work for my new build in New Norfolk. He engaged Dirt Building Design to create a design and plans as per my requirements which were based on my previous build on the block next door with another builder. These plans were lodged with Derwent Valley Council and were given Development Application approval. Arran presented me with a contract which was signed by both parties and I paid a deposit of $27,486.22 for work that was to be started early in 2023. One week after signing the contract and paying the deposit I had advice from Arran Atkinson that he would not be proceeding with the build because he did not have the correct building licence to undertake our build.Arran refused to refund my deposit until I signed an agreement releasing him from the contract. I signed this agreement on the understanding that I would have use of the plans that I had paid for in the $11,000 for the ground works charge. Arran refunded my deposit of $27,486.22. Arran never refunded my $11,000.00 ground works fee. After receiving the refund for the building deposit I have approached many other builders and designers and presented the plans to them and they have all told me that I can not use the plans unless the copyright of the plans that Dirt Building Design created is signed over to me or another designer. Both Arran Atkinson of Cavalier Homes and Eli Jorgessen of Dirt Building design have refused my many requests for the use of the plans.I now have to start the design process over again because apparently I will be in breach of copyright unless I dramatically change the footprint and the design of the plans. The end result is I have I wasted 12 months of my time and $11,000 of my money.I found Arran and Paula Atkinson and Eli Jorgessen very difficult to work with as I found Arran would never write anything down and would not relay information to Eli. I only ever had one on site meeting with Eli and was never given the opportunity to go over the plans face to face with him as was promised. Arran, Paula and Eli all refused to take my calls and have dropped me like a hot potato and Paula even threatened to take action against me if I continued to attempt to make contact with them.I feel I have been treated very unfairly and would never recommend these businesses to anyone.
