They will not lend you a 13mm to change battery. I would have paid a security deposit, but had to go to bunnings to buy a spanner... tricky with a flat battery.All good, heat wave conditions here in Cairns.Guy with the dodgie angels is a treat to deal with... The alternator and battery on my work ute failed on Wednesday afternoon I rang this business and the polite front desk manager checked with the mechanics and they fitted it in for the next day I dropped it off at 9 am and received a call at 3 pm saying it was all done it fells good when you open the Bonet and see new parts have been used and the utes electrical system have not worked as well in years. Very happy and with the service and end product.

Don't trust this place. Previous reviews may be fake. They tell one price and charge you more later for no reason. They told me they would call me before doing anything extra to the basic service... But they didn't do anything extra and still charged me $50 extra over initial quote for no reason. I should have refused to pay. Hope this will not happen to other people, do yourself a favour, don't take your car to Smithfield auto. Rip-off.

Just recently went to Smithfield Automotive for a Roadworthy Certificate to sell the car. I have never been there before and was quite upset to notice some panel damage when I brought my car back home. My partner noticed when he looked under the car there were fresh handprints and the panel was pushed out as well. The car hadn't been anywhere else apart from their shop. We took the car back the next day and spoke to the owner, Gary who had been away and needed to talk to the other mechanics. Turns out they admitted to damaging my car and also covering it up - thinking that they would get away with it!! Gary mentioned that he would go through his insurance for the damage as it happened at his shop. As we had a buyer wanting to pick up the car after we had the RWC and we needed this repaired ASAP - Gary said that he would organise his friend across the road to fix it. Yes, they fixed it (not perfect though!) but in the process of this, we had to find out ourselves that his mechanics damaged my car, tried to cover it up, not mention anything to me and we lost the buyer who wanted to buy the car. If you take your car there, just check your vehicle for any possible damage! What makes it even worse is that I didn't receive a follow up phone call after the panel was fixed or even a simple apology!
