I recently had my branding reviewed by Charlie. I was impressed by his thoroughness. We engaged Willmore Design to design and 'typeset' my mother's memoirs, working directly with Charles Willmore to produce the book on a tight deadline. The project was somewhat complex, involving coming up with a flexible book design that would accommodate the inclusion of nearly 500 color and black-and-white photographs embedded in approximately 350 pages of text. The rolling nature of the writing and editing of this book would have presented a challenge to any designer or 'layout' person, but Charles handled this work expertly, managing to keep on top of revision control while handling numerous rounds of edits to text, graphics, and photographs. He designed all aspects of the book to create a very coordinated package, ensuring visual balance, readability, and esthetics, culminating in producing a unique, professional cover design that is fresh and exciting. The finished book is a work of art: everyone who reads it comments on its beauty and professionalism. In terms of staying within cost estimates, Charles did his very best and willingly compromised when scope changes occurred that resulted in modest cost overruns. These were caused largely by scope creep on our side (the inclusion of extra photographs and additional photo editing that could not have been predicted). Charles' attention to detail and exacting professional standards won him our confidence. When we finally celebrated the book's completion with a 'book launch' party in Brisbane, we knew it would be imperative to invite Charles to attend and meet us all in person. We are grateful that he attended. It gave us a chance to thank him for work that was beautifully done, and done in a way that showed great sensitivity to our mother's wish to capture her memories in an impactful, meaningful way. In brief, Charles' work for us was not just exceptional in the technical sense: over the course of the project he seemed to develop a genuine enthusiasm for my mother's life story, and we think that his passion and devotion to his work made mom's book even better. We highly recommend Willmore Design.
