Okami Japanese Restaurant
Been to this Okami 3 times now. It's great value, not too bad food. We have our favourites which are good. The sashimi in the sashimi sushi plate is pretty good actually. I eat plenty of it. My son really likes the teriyaki chicken offerings (sushi, sticks and diced). The Chicken Karaage is also really good and a must try. The place is busy and customer service isn't always the best but each time we encounter at least one staff member who really does their best to give you a good experience, so more than acceptable. Go there with the right expectations and you will walk out full, content and not a huge dent in your wallet.

It isn't worth the $36.80 for all you can eat.The only items that were decent was the sashimi, sushi and the ice cream. The curry was so watery it barley had taste, the beef was like rubber and the defrosted dumpling were somehow worse than supermarket purchased ones. For almost $40 you can get your fill of good quality sushi and Japanese food at many other restraunts in Melbourne.

Terrible food.. This restaurant was not other Okami branch. For assorted sushi, they never served Tuna for our table. For sushi rolls, they were full of rice with an extremely thin slice of salmon.I checked pictures of here on the reviews but I never saw plates like them.We were very satisfied at the other branch, but we will not come back hereFYI. It was 4th of May

Overall it was a good dining experience. We came here by booking in advance. Ordered straight from the start and finished in less than 2 hours. We expected this place to offer a bit of premium quality but it was just okay. Some food was quite good and others were just okay. Some just make you quickly feel full especially the beef meals (too hard to bite). Dessert were so pleasant. We were hoping to get a better food experience. However, the staff were attentive and helpful. This is a place where you get bangs for bucks if that's what you're after plus long chit-chat and group dining.

Food yummy lots of variety and good value. Saturday night was very busy loud and we had a wait longer for food than usual. Some items didn't turn up. Will try again another evening maybe during the week. Either way, I definitely would go again

Miso steak (2x) could have been served warmer.Wasabi given with our Sashimi platter (2x) was bland. I gave a feedback about it but instead I was handed another serving of wasabi, I must have been misunderstood.

All-you-can-eat Japanese. The price is reasonable. The food is amazing. Service is slow. The waitress spent more time cleaning tables than taking orders from customers while 80% of the restaurant is empty. We had to call the waitress a few times to take our orders when they were not busy at all. After 5pm, you can find parking right in front of the restaurant.

First time Okami diners!Tbh when we first walked in we were hit with the smell of urine and then seated just a short distance from where the smell was emitting at the front (also where food was being prepped.)For a buffet, it was nice! The cooked prawn & sashimi were pretty good, the chicken karage was basically fried chicken skin/fat, the beef was probably the best! Teriyaki & Yakiniku beef! The beef & sliced veges in garlic were drenched in oil but no different from other places. The potato croquettes were wonderful too! Overall, it could have been a 4 stars, especially given seafood is usually a hit or miss - so far no bubble guts! The siumai was pretty trash but it was nice that most of the plates came with side salads. Our service was pretty half n half, when we were served it was done so with perfect mannerisms however the time it took for our food to arrive was pretty slack, either singularly or sometimes not at all so resorted to ordering 3 items at a time so as to at least have something coming at any given time - we noted the impeccable service given to other patrons and chalked it up to being 2 ppl vs a group of 3 and a large family gathering, not acceptable but explainable. So we essentially ordered food, waited a longer time in comparison to other diners (15-20mins max with sometimes food not coming at all) and was served 1 plate at a time when they did come. We were pretty rushed towards the last half hour too.We paid just under $100 for 2 + 4x drinks = Overall, for a super baked foodiegal, I’d probably go here once a year or two.

It was great discovering this Japanese buffet restaurant! For just over $40 per person we received all we can eat beef, chicken, seafood, sushi and sashimi, miso soup, desserts and more! The service started off extremely poor, not welcoming us to the restaurant, not explaining how it works or how to start ordering, but the waitress we had after that was very friendly and attentive if we signalled for her.The chairs are very low which wasn’t good for my back as a tall person and there weren’t alternatives. I also don’t like being charged a fee for paying for a bill without a warning, but on the whole it was a very pleasant experience and night out!
