The Big Prawn

I love that we still have BIG things in Australia! Thanks Bunnings for restoring it.

It's a big prawn located in a Bunnings carpark

Much bigger than expected. You see it along the main road as you go over a crest, and it just keeps getting bigger as you approach. There was a vacant block that you can drive into to get underneath it for great photos, avoiding the Bunnings carpark mayhem on the other side of the fence.Quote from my kid “it’s a giant croissant with an head and arms”!

So evidently Australia has a fascination with Big Things". I am told they are placed sporadically all over the country. So

It's something you need to tick off your list I'd your near Ballina. You can see it from a mile away and was built in 1989. I've seen this over the years since a kid and still brings a smile to your face. A good one to show the kids!!!

You gotta do it when in Ballina but would have expected more bere like a gift shop. Was in and out in 2 minutes.

I'm not sure what a doctor is that fixes jaws is, maybe a maliofaxial surgery guy (or girl, women can be surgeons too) but I'll tell you what, I need one because when I saw the big prawn my jaw literally hit the floor. If you're Shania Twain type operator who ain't impressed by much, get ready to have your socks BLOWN off. The sheer size of the prawn is probably on par with the colossas of Rhodes or the hanging gardens of Babylon (flexing my rich historical knowledge, soz) and it has an immense awe inspiring presence. I would THOUROUGHLY recommend a visit off the pacific highway and aim to spend 45 minutes to an hour taking in the rich history of the prawn. Take it easy all, xxx

Exceeded my expectations compared to some of the other Big Things. Just wish there was some signage to readabout the prawn when visiting!
