Charles Jewellers

Unreliable. I had asked Charles Jewellers to change my watch’s battery and to have it ready in two days time which they had agreed. When I arrived I was told that the jeweller was not in and they had not carried out the repair. Quite disappointing as they could have called / texted and saved me a half hour trip into the shopping centre specifically to pick up the watch. Would not go there again.

The service here is disgraceful. Two months ago I gave Mr Charles, the owner, two silver rings to be quoted for repair. He told me he would see if he could fix them as they appeared difficult to fix, and would call me to let me know how much he would quote them for repair. About a month later I still hadn’t heard back so I went back in to the store. Charles said he hadn’t managed to quote them yet, blamed his staff for not having called me, and said that he need another 2-3 weeks to quote the repair. In good faith I left the rings with him again to be quoted for repairs. A month or so passed again, and I still hadn’t heard back from Charles or any of his staff. I went in today to pick up my rings. Charles was very rude and unapologetic for having my rings for so long, unquoted. He gave me the same excuse that they are very hard to fix. I complained that I was unhappy that my rings were kept for so long without being given the courtesy of a phone call to update me on the matter and that I had to return a third time, with my baby, only to be disregarded and spoken to rudely. He eventually returned my rings when I asked for them, but the silver broken pieces were missing. When I asked him for my silver pieces he said I didn’t need them. I demanded for the pieces to be returned to me, at this point I was very upset as you can imagine. Charles said he didn’t have them and would need to look for them. He said we was going to call security on me as I was complaining too loudly. Charles was rude to me, told me I “must be having a bad day” as I was apparently “not being a nice lady”. He was insulting and rude. I was about to call the police when I realised my bag was missing. As I was frantically looking for my bag Charles stood at the entry to the shop and stopped me from leaving to look for my bag. He said “do not leave the shop, don’t go anywhere” and he stood in my way. I walked past him and went to the last shop i was in and thankfully my bag was there. When I returned to the shop Charles said that I had accused him of stealing my bag. No such accusation was ever made. I simply wanted my rings returned in their entirety. He did not return the missing pieces to me. At that point I was so upset and my baby was crying that I had to leave the premises. Charles is rude, condescending, unprofessional, unreliable. I trusted him with my rings which are very sentimental, which he promised to quote for repair, and in the end I walked away with less than what I walked in with and spoken to rudely on top. He also wanted to take the rings back off me and said he wanted to take a photo of them because he didn’t trust me. Is this guy for real? That’s how he treats honest customers. He ‘loses’ your jewellery, provides no apology, takes no responsibility and blames you on top.

I ordered a custom made gold bracelet with engravings for my mother at Charles Jewellers. Charles was very proffesional and helped with the design process ensuring that my mother was satisfied with the concept. He gave a time for the completion of the job and produced the bracelet at the agreed time. Both my mother and I were very happy with the quality of the work and the service recieved here. I highly recommend this jeweller and I intend to return in future for their services.

DO NOT GO THERE this man he is a professional thief. I took my 18 ct neckless to fix it he had sawpped it with a half of the weight and gave me similar cheap light neckess do not trust him my mistake i did.and also my freind left a diamand ring to fix he gave her a diffrent diamand .i was very upset that i cant get same neckless was bought from overseas .he is very rude stay away from this store.

I went in for a repair of a twisted necklace. What a gentleman! Excellent service, the repair was finished in less than an hour and I was very happy with the cost. I'd recommend coming to see Charles for your repairs!

Three weeks prior to an event I had purchased a diamond necklace as a Christening gift. At the time of purchase the store owner informs me that they are out of jewellery boxes. Even though this was odd, I was promised a “beautiful box”. Since I live nearly an hour away he said that he would post one to me. One week before the event, I called to notify the owner that the box did not arrive and he said he would send one to me. Since I still not receive the box. I reluctantly had to go to the shop the day before the Christening.To cut a long story short. I asked the owner if he could provide me a box for the necklace. He said no" and that once again he had no boxes to give and that if I need a box desperately

Charles strives to get the job done nicely and at a decent price if you are unsure about something, give him a call as he has to buy supplies to make his jewellery. He doesn't stand around all day waiting for you...use your sense people...I have had positive experiences with my jewellery repairs.
