I discovered Yoshinkan Aikido many years ago while searching for a martial art with values that aligned with my approach to life and immediately embraced the idea of a graduated response to a graduated threat.I've since had the privilege to train with Sensei Elio & Sensei Hani over many years and have been impressed with how they have built up an excellent group of students at this dojo in a relatively short time who are great to train with.Ladies, gents and kids from all walks of life have discovered a pair of no BS teachers who help you be your best with world class instruction that is safe, effective and recognised across the international community. If you are in this part of Melbourne, come and try a class

I joined this school 3.5 years ago and Im so happy of what the two Sensei Hani and Elio have thought me. Still a student of the school till now and will continue on as I learn valuable lessons in Aikido applied to my work, life and health. Hani and Elio, you guys are the best teachers. It is rare to find a martial arts school with two 5th dan Sensei teaching the martial arts. Im honoured to be imparted by your skills and knowledge in Aikido

I have love it I started at 8 and now I have completed the junior class. I am now moving on to the adult class. I have learnt so much and I love how much effort that sensei puts in for both adult and junior classes. I would recommend it to Mums, Dads and kids to give it a go.

Thought I would join a gentle art less taxing for my body. I end up getting really fit physically and mentally instead. Amazing trainers and great Dojo ethics. Definitely try it out!

Venturing into the world of Yoshinkan Aikdo at this dojo; you will find two amazing instructors who have a massive wealth of knowledge, skill, passion to teach that is hard pressed to be found else where. The dojo atmosphere provides a high level of encouragement to learn/train this art given that you place your dedication to amass the skills. I have been training now for about 2 years at this dojo.

In today’s society, people are often looking for a quick fix or instant gratification. There are many martial arts that claim to quickly teach you how to punch, kick and become fit. However, as the old adage goes “not everything that shines is gold” so too is the case with many ‘business’ martial arts. To truly benefit from something requires an investment of time, and as the investment matures so does the enormous benefit or dividend. When a person ages, often they are not as fit as a younger person and very quickly many quick fix ‘business’ martial arts that solely rely on fitness and brute strength alone, eventually lose their viability. Aikido on the other hand is for life. You may often see persons well advanced in age that can defend themselves very effectively over their entire life span. Yes, Aikido does take time, but what it gives back, lasts a lifetime.I have researched many martial arts over the years, and I was thrilled with the opportunity to enrol my entire family (wife and four children) with Bayside Aikido. The environment is conducive to learning and the instructors are world class. If you are after meaningful learning that lasts for life, then I highly recommend Bayside Shudokan Aikido.

The best school to learn the Yoshinkan/Yoshinkai style of Aikido. Combining almost 50 years of experience in Aikido- Sensei Hani and Sensei Elio both are high ranking (5th Dan) teachers of Aikido. All ages fitness and gender are welcome on this school. I reckon Aikido is a martial arts that you can grow old with and apply to your day to day life.I started when i was 38 an now 41 and still enjoying it with passion. Highly recommended, try it!

I signed up my 10 year old twins here a month ago and it's all they talk about. Their behaviour and respect for authority has improved already in this short time. Senseis Hani and Elio are assertive and highly skilled and true gentlemen at the same time. We already feel like part of the family here. Once my boys are big enough to join the adult classes, I'm enrolling too and will never consider another Dojo as I'm totally sold on this professional school.
