From the moment we pulled into the drive we felt welcomed and relaxed. Such a beautiful old building, it really must be seen to be appreciated. We spent two nights there to finish off our honeymoon and I could not have asked for a better place to do so.

We were the only guests staying but we had a lovely time, it's very quaint and EXCELLENT value for money. The main hall is slightly dusty and the TV was very small but the room was perfectly clean and lovely bath. Lots of DVDs and books to borrow. I couldn't believe the extent of the included breakfast - juices, yoghurt, boiled eggs, coffee, fruit, toast, jam. Thanks to Thomas for their polite service.

Heritage property that was well maintained and clean. Great continental breakfast and friendly host. Garden outside could be maintained much better but interiors were great. Thomas and Bianca were excellent were excellent hosts.

We had a great two night stay. Thomas was very friendly and gave us lots of tips for our trip around Tassie. Bed and shower excellent. Walking distance to town along water front. Quietest place and very comfortable.

I had such high hopes for this destination, but alas, it was not to be. Upon arrival, a note on the front door said to go to the door around the side and phone the mobile number located on a piece of paper taped to the door. Phoned the number and was told by a lovely man that he would be down in a moment to let us in. It was dark, and the minutes ticked by. It took so long that I thought he was the caretaker and didn't live on the property. Finally, after 7 minutes, he opened the door and let us in. Our room was nice but in need of some TLC. Two negative things that really stood out to me were:#1. They only served breakfast between 7.30 - 9.00. As we needed to leave for a tour by 7.30am at the latest, we were told we could just buy ourselves breakfast on the way, instead of showing us where the cereal was kept, etc.#2. When we got back from our tour, someone had kindly turned on our bedside lamps but ignored the dishevelled pillows and bedspread right next to them. They also folded our used towels and placed them back onto the towel rack for us to reuse. We ate breakfast there on our 2nd morning and it was really nice. The young couple who are currently caretaking are lovely but perhaps not right for the job description and guest expectations. Especially considering the cost per night. Also, it's sad to see such a historical home looking as run down as this one. We won't be returning.

We returned to Ormiston House after 9 years. We had no hesitation in booking as we had wonderful memories from our previous experience. How disappointing.Upon arrival, we were required to phone the numbers listed on the side door to get access. The first person did not answer. When we did enter, the young lady was very helpful. However, we had to give all of our preferences for breakfast verbally as a group without having the opportunity to peruse the menu. We did not realize at the time, these choices were for each day of our 3 day stay unless you wanted to make changes personally. Our room was large but very poorly lit as was the rest of the house. In some rooms only 2 lights in the multiple light chandeliers worked, making it very difficult to read. The room and curtains needed updating/replacing. The shower also leaked. The lighting was so poor in our friends room that we had to use the dining room area. However there was no heating as the gas fireplace did not work and it was a freezing day.If I was an international tourist, I would have struggled to find any tourist information as there were no brochures and no interaction with the owners. Our experience was very different to our previous stay where we were contacted prior to our stay, welcoming us with lots of information about the local area and directions to get there. We had been greeted by the hosts, served a lovely breakfast and given scones, jam and cream for our journey to our next destination. This was our most expensive accommodation for our holiday in Tasmania and certainly was not value for money. It is supposed to be a bnb not a motel and therefore expected a much more personal experience.

Beautiful old house in a fantastic location. Sadly showing signs of needing a little TLC (and perhaps some nice mattresses). Fantastic breakfast service.

Shower too hard to adjust. Scalding hot water hence cold shower!Bin wasn’t emptied, dirty cups left unwashed and milk supplied in container went sour but left in our room. No body soap left for shower. Omiston House is nice but very tired. In need of a lot TLC.Overall disappointing for the price of our two day stay.

A beautiful house but sadly being neglected. Grounds also badly neglected. Shower had mould, wallpaper peeling. Gutters overflowing onto the timber verandah. It's a crime to neglect such a beautiful historic house. Shame on the owners

We visited recently and were disappointed in our experience at this hotel. The rooms are clean and the vintage look is beautiful, but the customer service is poor. The door to one of our rooms would not open. There was nobody on site to help with problems such as this, the only contact was via phone. When we called, we were told, 'It's a tricky lock, some people get it, some don't' . Although the person on the phone offered to come around to help, they really didn't seem interested in our comfort . When we asked for directions upon arrival, we were given vague waves of the hand, the bed in one room was not made up during the day. The breakfast was at a limited time which clashed with the major activities offered by the location. We were inconvenienced and definitely felt unwelcome.. I was expecting better. However, for a single night stay it might be OK.
