This is a good place to complete your 88 days. Work and transportation are already sorted out before you arrive, and the people and James are super friendly. Only complaint is that the appliances need a bit of updating in the bungalow.Overall, if you’re looking to complete your days then I’d recommend this place.

I stayed at Budget Backpackers to complete my 88 days. True to his word James found me farm work almost immediately, on weekends he would also try and find us cash jobs if we wanted them. The farm work was up and down with some short weeks due to a lack of fruit but there was nothing James could do about that. The hostel is an incredibly social place and is a great place to stay however bear in mind it is a working hostel and the accommodation is quite basic.

Had a great time here whilst finishing off my farm work. Hostel has a good atmosphere and weekends are always a lot of fun! James did an amazing job with organising work and making sure everyone was happy, couldn’t have asked for anymore from him! Rob the driver always kept everyone’s spirits high on the way to and from work. Can’t recommend this place enough for people looking to do their farm work.

I stayed here for a very long time. Through the pandemic. I can honestly recommend this place to complete your 88 days. I have done farm work in Bundaberg, regional Victoria and south Australia. Those places are sometimes very inconsistent for the amount of work available. But at budget backpackers you have a chance to complete your 88 days all in one go. There is an option to stay in dorm rooms, but they also have some flats available. The manager James actually cares about the people staying there and will always try his best to make sure everyone has consistent work. The good thing about this place is that bananas are harvested all year round, so you don't have to worry about the season ending. It does get a little bit slower during winter time (june-august). It does get quite warm during the summer months. The location of this hostel in Innisfail is the best compared to the other working hostels in town. Only 2 blocks to Coles close to bottle shop.

Had the best time at budget, made friends for life. James was so helpful with the farmwork, everything was all sorted for you which saves you having to stress about finding a farm. Hostel is clean and there's always someone to help if you have any problems or questions.

TL;DR - You may hate the work and living conditions. But the people are nice and the staff will go above and beyond to help you out. Just be nice :)Also, every weekend is essentially a party… if that’s your thing!Pros:-Jobs are sorted for you-Hostel is centrally located. Everything is within a 20min walk-If you arrive in Cairns the staff may be able to arrange transport for you to Innisfail-Other backpackers create a welcoming atmosphere/support-group-There is a train station and a greyhound bus stop in town for weekend trips to cairns-The hostel occasionally arranges group trips to Etty Bay and Josephine FallsCons:-There are weeks maybe months with low amounts of work for various reasons.-Hostel has been maintained on a budget. Appliances work but may not sometimes….-Rent is high for what you get-Farmers/managers on the farms are not good with communication but love to yell at new employeesSummary:If you need to do farm work and you're looking for an easy option; this is for you.Ps. Do NOT go out alone at night. Innisfail is not a safe town! Even for men!!

Me and my Friend both completed our 88 days here and couldn’t recommend it enough. We both had the best time here meeting loads of new people, the hostel had a great atmosphere and was very social. James the manager sorted us out straight away with farm work which included transport to the farms. It was all really well organised with no hassle. Was defiantly one of the best experiences me and my friend have had in Australia so far. Big thanks you to James for making it possible.

I have just finished my time here and I’m so sad to leave. I had such an amazing time at this hostel. James the hostel manager is always there for you to help where he can and he’s a great guy. I was always in consistent work throughout my time here. My room was nice and had everything I needed. James also runs busses some weekends to beaches / waterfalls in the area and the hostel is also a great laugh at the weekends, I made so many friends here! If you’re looking to complete your 88 days this is the place to come!
