Chess Moving Brisbane

The night before the Brisbane floods we contact management at Chess to assist my 84 year old parents. At 5am we had 2 trucks and several professional removalists to take the major items from their home. In fact they cleared the complete house out. To show the even more community spirit this was all done at no charge. My parents are now back in there home. Support those who support or community in a time of need.

Exceptional service! I rarely leave reviews, so this is from the heart - we were looked after with such care from start to finish. Can’t thank Marcia and Leticia enough for their support and guidance thru the whole process. Moving day was a breeze for my 91 year old mother thanks to Damian and his team, who packed up the house with professionalism and good humour. They all took great pride in their work - a crack team….highly recommended.

We were happy with the uplift from Brisbane but very dissatisfied with the delivery at Doomadgee. The boxes were all left around the house without designating kitchen items to kitchen, laundry to Laundry, bedrooms to bedroom, lounge room to Lounge room, toilets to toilets and even camping gears left upstairs. They did not set the beds up or the couch they took apart (which we had been told by them that they would do). We couldn't find the priority box to set the beds up, or the connecting adaptor to control the recliners. Made contact with the office after I complained of the service and not being able to locate stuff and the priority box. I got a call two hours later to confirm that the priority box did not come with the property and was still in Brisbane. No apology only that it will be couriered over. However, all in all we haven’t observed any major damage to our properties (but we haven’t opened all boxes yet).

Chess Moving were extremely helpful and fast when moving my things. Everything arrived in perfect condition and the guys were very respectful. My furniture even arrived earlier which was great!

Absolute THE WORST moving experience I ever had. Crew from Brisbane dis-assembled my furniture at the pickup location and another crew who handled the delivery refused to re-assemble them back at the delivery and lied to their manager saying the bed frame was already dis-assembled when Brisbane crew picked them up. They arrived at my door step without notifying me in advance (literally had no idea and got no update from the company about arrival date), they had a look at my couch saying it looks ‘too complicated’ to assemble and they have another 3-4 jobs to attend to so just left when I was on the phone trying to lodge a complaint. Yes they LEFT without notifying me or confirming with me if all items are delivered. Beyond disappointment. Attached it’s a photo of the ‘complicated’ IKEA couch they refused to re-assemble and the boxes with company logo to prove this ridiculous experience actually happened. DO NOT USE THEM!!!

This is a great company and a pleasure to work with. From initial contact with the office to the movers, they were all a delight to work with. The movers were professional, careful, and courteous. I would highly recommend Chess Moving Brisbane!

The guys who packed and picked up were great. However the ones who unpacked didn’t. They didn’t unpack and they didn’t finish moving in the furniture.I had to engage another team to finish the furniture and I did all the unpacking myself - not what we paid for!Really disappointed in the lack of concern and them not putting the bed together before they left - I had to do that on my own.Always check who they use as a third party to do the work.

Packers arrived and were in a hurry, voicing openly how they would be having ‘an early knock off’ (State of Origin night). I had to request bubble wrap to be brought the following day for my larger wall prints as they weren’t going to provide it. I was left helping to pack while they rushed out the door, and one of them broke the door catcher on the way out getting caught up in the door in a hurry. After they left, I discovered items in my kitchen which they had forgotten to pack and I was left to pack them the following day.At the other end, I discovered my smaller prints, ornaments and artwork had been jammed into a box and damaged. Most are sentimental and irreplaceable. The back end of the truck was packed in a shambles- with my electric piano laid down to transit from SEQ to NQ and items dishevelled upon arrival. All up I had quite a number of items damaged from being either loose in the container or jammed / wedged into boxes without any wrapping. I then spent a significant amount of time organising quotes for repairs / replacement of the items that could be salvaged. Some items simply couldn’t be replaced and no amount of money can assist in that regard. Attached are photos that show ‘some’ of the packing and damage. I do not recommend this company - they were very unprofessional, caused a lot of undue stress on top of the stress of the move and I am still waiting on an answer as to my claim. My transfer was booked through work and this company was subcontracted to do pack and uplift through a separate company who got the tender.

The best and most professional move I’ve ever experienced. Careful, capable with a real desire to listen to our every need. The team made the seemingly impossible seem easy. Thanks from both of us.
