Bishop Tyrrell Place

I would like to compliment the staff and all involved in Bishop Tyrrell Place for looking after my mother really well. I can't believe how friendly and helpful all staff have been - nothing seems too much bother to them. My mother is comfortable and content and that is invaluable to me.

Great Facility

Been on the journey of aged care with a friends parents the entire way. The level of dementia care I can not speak highly enough. Very impressed with management and staff and the general running of the facility. There are lots of aged care facilities that don't even come close to Bishop Tyrrell. I would without hesitation put my own parents here. No aged care facility is perfect but I'm very impressed with Bishop Tyrrell over the last 2 yrs especially with the challenges faced during covid. Thank you for the level of care you have provided to my friends parents.

DO NOT PUT ANY FAMILY MEMBER IN THIS PLACE!! Staff have been STEALING residents money for the past 4 years!! Management do nothing about it! And do not care! Food is appalling and residents are neglected! I know as i worked there. Management... How could you let your staff steal from these poor people and do nothing about it! Absolute disgraceful, you should be named and shamed! And shut down!

Agree with both negative reviews below. Mgt. have known that staff have been stealing cash and possessions from residents for years and have, in the past, refused to call the police. Nobody has ever proactively informed families of these occurrences and only admit it begrudgingly when pressed. Not sure what current policy as the mgt. has changed YET AGAIN! My mother has often been left waiting to be helped to the toilet for over 30mins as there are no staff available. Turnover is horrendous. Some staff and nurses are caring and lovely people simply putting up with terrible conditions and doing their best.Food is a disgrace.. dog slop! I have to buy my mother food to eat every time I visit as she would rather not eat than consume the dregs they offer. Her entire pension goes to this facility plus more and I can t see what we get in return. Do Not put your beloved relatives into this mess. Archdiocese of Newcastle has a lot to answer for!!

My mother has resided in BTP since mid 2016 and there have certainly been some major unresolved problems in the past. However, I cannot speak too highly of the New Residential Care Manager. In the short time that he has been at the helm, this facility has never operated more smoothly and efficiently. He is a young, vibrant, extremely approachable, diligent and caring young man. If I ever have any concerns whatsoever, he always listens attentively and resolves any issues. He has lifted the morale of all the staff and residents, which, in my opinion, was at an all-time low and it is now an absolute pleasure to see the care staff happy and smiling. We visit Mum 3-4 times a week. It used to be more before COVID-19 struck and the innovations and changes to this facility are very positive and uplifting. Well done!
